Senior/Staff Software Engineer, Platform

ABOUT THE ROLE
Join the platform team at an early-stage AI and manufacturing supply chain company. You will build the backend services, data pipelines, and integrations that coordinate AI-powered agents and transactions across manufacturing workflows, helping ensure physical goods move reliably through complex operations.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Design and scale backend services using Next.js API routes, background jobs, and serverless functions for high-throughput order processing.
- Build and productionize LLM-based agents, AI/ML infrastructure, and RAG patterns for quote analysis and supplier recommendations.
- Design PostgreSQL schemas, migrations, and complex queries for materials, quotes, orders, and supplier relationships.
- Build event-driven pipelines for order state management, notifications, and cross-system synchronization.
- Implement caching, rate limiting, and reliability strategies for external API calls.
- Establish monitoring, alerting, and observability practices, and own backend incident response.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- At least 5 years of production experience building backend services, data pipelines, or platform infrastructure.
- Professional TypeScript experience, with recent hands-on work using Next.js and direct web development experience.
- Experience designing transactional systems with ACID guarantees, exactly-once processing, and idempotent APIs.
- Hands-on AI development or AI DevOps experience, including NLP or ML pipelines for extracting information from unstructured documents, such as OCR workflows.
- Experience building or productionizing LLM-based agents, working with agentic frameworks, or implementing RAG patterns.
- Strong PostgreSQL and relational database skills, plus experience with event-driven systems, queues, or reliable data pipelines.
- Experience integrating ERP systems and third-party APIs, including legacy or poorly documented interfaces.
- Experience with monitoring, alerting, observability, and incident response for backend systems.
- Professional experience in manufacturing supply chain, procurement, or logistics, ideally in a startup or small company.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Base salary: $160,000 to $250,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is available.
