About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
As a Supply Technician, you'll be the backbone of our supply chain operations, ensuring seamless delivery of critical materials to patient care areas. Working under general supervision, you'll take ownership of preparing items for shipment, coordinating with freight partners, and maintaining inventory systems that directly support quality patient care. You'll be instrumental in solving operational challenges and driving continuous improvements across our supply and distribution services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage Shipping Operations: Partner with major freight carriers (Federal Express, UPS, Airborne, Emery, and others) to coordinate efficient pick-ups and ensure all parcels meet rigorous security, hazmat, and shipping standards before they leave our facility.
Ensure Quality Control: Inspect all outgoing parcels with a critical eye, verifying proper preparation, correct addressing, appropriate labeling, and compliance with safety protocols to maintain our reputation for excellence.
Optimize Supply Distribution: Deliver supplies to patient care areas with precision and punctuality, maintaining sterile conditions and infection control standards that directly impact patient safety and staff efficiency.
Maintain Inventory Excellence: Monitor supply levels across all designated areas, keep supply carts organized and readily accessible, and use our inventory system to anticipate needs before shortages occur.
Support Equipment Maintenance: Keep supply carts and equipment in pristine condition using appropriate cleaning protocols and PPE, ensuring staff can quickly locate needed items in critical moments.
Manage Patient Charges: Collect and batch patient charge cards daily, and deliver STAT and routine items through our patient charging systems to support accurate billing and operational efficiency.
Drive Inventory Control: Monitor cart usage patterns, flag fluctuations, and collaborate with nursing managers to optimize stock levels and minimize waste.
Leverage Technology: Utilize hand-held computers to download, upload, and manage orders through our inventory system, ensuring adequate supply levels and coordinating special orders for non-prime vendor items.
Process Incoming Supplies: Receive, verify, and distribute incoming stock with accuracy—checking item numbers, descriptions, quantities, and delivery locations while maintaining organized documentation for future reference.
Resolve Operational Issues: Respond promptly to departmental requests, troubleshoot routine problems, and escalate complex issues to supervisors, contributing to smooth daily operations.
Support Administrative Functions: Sort and route mail efficiently, perform general maintenance on copiers (toner, staples, paper ordering), and keep our facilities running smoothly.
Ensure Compliance & Safety: Conduct periodic inspections for expired items, non-sterile conditions, and equipment safety certifications, taking appropriate corrective action to maintain our high standards.
Drive Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce waste, and enhance inventory control, contributing your insights to operational excellence.
Uphold Professional Standards: Maintain working knowledge of applicable regulations, our Corporate Compliance Program, and Code of Ethics, demonstrating honest, ethical, and professional behavior in all interactions.
