Role Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain reliable software applications that support business operations and technical objectives. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in software development, problem-solving, and programming principles, with the ability to translate technical requirements into efficient and scalable solutions.
In this role, you will collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to develop new features, improve existing applications, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure software quality throughout the development lifecycle. You will contribute to system design, code reviews, testing, documentation, and ongoing performance optimisation.
You will also help identify opportunities to improve application functionality, maintainability, security, and reliability. Depending on project requirements, your work may involve web applications, backend services, APIs, databases, cloud-based systems, or software integrations.
The position requires analytical thinking, attention to detail, and a commitment to writing clean, maintainable code. You should be comfortable working independently on assigned tasks while collaborating with team members to deliver practical solutions that meet technical specifications and business needs.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline is preferred.
Strong understanding of programming fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and software development principles.
Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, C++, or similar technologies.
Familiarity with software development frameworks, libraries, and tools relevant to the assigned projects.
Understanding of relational or NoSQL databases, SQL queries, data modelling, and database integration.
Knowledge of REST APIs, system integration, version control tools such as Git, and collaborative development workflows.
Familiarity with software testing, debugging, code reviews, and application performance optimisation.
Understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile or Scrum, is an advantage.
Ability to analyse technical requirements, troubleshoot problems, and develop efficient, scalable solutions.
Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to manage assigned tasks, maintain clear technical documentation, and meet project deadlines.
Awareness of secure coding practices, software quality standards, and emerging development technologies.
A proactive attitude, willingness to explore new tools and techniques, and commitment to continuous technical improvement.
