Role Description The Software Engineering Apprentice — LUNARTECH — Netherlands role is a part-time, remote position designed for individuals seeking hands-on experience in AI-native software development. The apprentice will support the engineering team by implementing and testing features, writing clean and maintainable code, and contributing to backend and infrastructure tasks in collaboration with senior engineers. Daily work may include working with Linux-based environments, using databases to store and query data, and developing components in Java and other relevant programming languages. The role also involves participating in code reviews, documenting technical decisions, troubleshooting issues across the stack, and learning best practices for secure, scalable, and reliable systems. Apprentices will gain exposure to real-world AI products while contributing to production-grade projects under mentorship.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess skills in Software Development and Programming, with a focus on writing clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
Candidates should possess skills in working with Databases, including basic data modeling, querying, and understanding of relational or NoSQL systems.
Candidates should possess skills in Linux, including navigating the command line, managing development environments, and using basic system tools.
Candidates should possess skills in Java, including object-oriented programming concepts and building simple applications or services.
Beneficial qualifications include familiarity with version control (e.g., Git), basic knowledge of software testing, and an interest in AI, data science, or backend engineering.
