Data Quality Engineer
Python + ETL Automation
Location: Bengaluru
Experience: Demonstrated experience in data quality engineering, ETL/DWH testing, and test automation, with the capability to lead quality-engineering initiatives and coordinate a mid-sized QA team.
Role Overview
The Data Quality Engineer will design and implement robust test automation for data pipelines and data warehouse solutions. The role combines hands-on engineering, quality governance, stakeholder collaboration, and team coordination in an agile delivery environment.
Core Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain automated tests for data pipelines using Python or PySpark.
Validate ETL and data warehouse workflows through comprehensive data, integration, and regression testing.
Use SQL to analyze source and target data, identify discrepancies, and verify transformation logic.
Read, understand, and modify stored procedures, preferably in Oracle environments.
Create and maintain BDD-based test automation using Cucumber or a comparable framework.
Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps with Jenkins or GitLab Runner.
Define and promote quality-engineering best practices, standards, and policies at program level.
Troubleshoot complex quality-engineering issues and use production data to identify improvement opportunities.
Monitor, review, and support adherence to quality-assurance policies and procedures.
Coordinate a mid-sized QA team working across multiple products.
Partner with client and delivery stakeholders and act as a liaison between the quality-engineering team and stakeholder groups.
Contribute to agile ceremonies and apply effective QA practices throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Strong hands-on experience in data testing with Python or PySpark.
Deep understanding of data-testing concepts, with emphasis on ETL.
Hands-on experience in ETL/DWH testing and SQL using an RDBMS.
Experience with relational databases, preferably Oracle, including stored-procedure analysis and modification.
Strong experience with BDD using Cucumber or a similar framework.
Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab Runner.
Hands-on experience with one or more programming languages, such as Java or JavaScript.
Strong problem-solving, data-analysis, and review skills.
Knowledge of Jira and Zephyr for test management.
Proficient software-testing experience in an agile environment.
Additional Requirements
Strong hands-on expertise in test automation and automation-framework design.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate professionally across technical, client, and business teams.
