About the Role
As a Technical People Manager for the Slack Practice within Salesforce Professional Services (GDC), you will build, coach, and lead a high-performing team of Slack technical consultants, developers, and architects. In this role, you will bridge the gap between people leadership, technical architecture, and enterprise delivery excellence.
You will partner closely with global practice leaders, onshore engagement managers, and enterprise customers to deliver complex Slack transformations—ranging from large-scale Enterprise Grid migrations and custom app development to next-generation Agentforce and Salesforce integrations.
This role is 50% billable and in addition to team leadership, you will work with our customers and partners as a technical architect to solve critically important business challenges using Salesforce’s Industries Cloud.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage, mentor, and grow a team of 15 technical consultants, Slack developers, and technical architects.
Conduct regular 1:1s, performance appraisals, goal-setting, and career progression planning.
Drive team enablement initiatives, certification bootcamp (Certified Slack Developer, Certified Slack Admin), and hands-on skill development across emerging features (Agentforce in Slack, Slack CLI).
Lead recruitment, technical interviews, and onboarding to scale the Slack practice with top-tier talent.
Cultivate an inclusive, collaborative, and innovation-driven culture within the GDC.
Serve as a Technical Architect for Slack enterprise implementations, providing architectural oversight across client deliverables.
Establish best practices, reusable code repositories, standard operating frameworks, and review gates for Slack custom apps (Bolt framework, Block Kit, API limits, and security).
Oversee enterprise migration architectures, ensuring best practices for identity mapping, data retention, DLP compliance, and cutover execution.
Champion architecture reviews and guide technical teams through complex customer design challenges.
Partner with Resource Management and Global Practice Directors to ensure optimal staffing, utilization, and project readiness.
Lead functional and technical workshops. Demonstrate leadership skills in designing, delivering, testing, and deploying.
Collaborate with onshore delivery teams to scope technical effort, review estimates, and ensure seamless global delivery collaboration.
Lead practice initiatives around Slack + Salesforce convergence (e.g., Agentforce for Slack, Salesforce Channels, CRM integrations).
Drive internal IP development, such as reusable Slack accelerators, migration automation scripts, and workflow templates.
Required Technical Skills & Competencies:
Slack Enterprise Grid & Administration:
Deep understanding of Slack Enterprise Grid topology, multi-workspace scoping, and enterprise governance.
Experience with identity lifecycle management: SAML 2.0 SSO (Okta, Azure AD, Ping) and SCIM directory sync.
Strong foundation in enterprise security, compliance, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), eDiscovery, Enterprise Key Management (EKM), and the Slack Audit Logs API.
Governance of Slack Connect, external collaboration policies, and app installation approval pipelines.
Slack App Development & APIs:
Proven hands-on background in Slack app development using the Bolt Framework (Node.js or Python).
Mastery of Block Kit, interactive UI components, modals, and App Home tab architectures.
Thorough knowledge of the Slack Web API, Events API, Webhooks, Socket Mode vs. HTTP endpoint configurations, and rate-limiting best practices.
Familiarity with the Slack CLI, modular app architecture, manifest files (manifest.json), and Workflow Builder custom functions.
Enterprise Migration & Consolidation:
Architectural knowledge of migrating from legacy communication platforms (Microsoft Teams, Mattermost, freemium/standalone Slack workspaces) to Slack Enterprise Grid.
Familiarity with user/channel mapping schemas, export/import APIs, data parity verification, and cutover runbook execution.
DevOps & Engineering Standards:
Solid understanding of modern CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, automated testing frameworks, and secure API integration standards.
Experience hosting Slack apps on cloud infrastructure (Heroku, AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Total Experience: 10-15+ years in software engineering, technical consulting, or enterprise cloud solutions.
Management Experience: 5+ years of direct people management experience leading technical teams (software engineers, technical consultants, or architects) in a global delivery / consulting model.

Familiarity with core Salesforce platform capabilities (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Platform Events, Apex, Flow).
