About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

A note from Johnny
Hi, I'm Johnny. I lead Strategy & Operations and HR at Berry AI.
Before Berry AI: BCG consultant, Harvard MBA, 1st biz hire at LifeScore (founded by Tom Gruber, cofounder of Siri), and founder of my own VC-backed US AI startup.
I joined Berry AI because it's one of the very few Taiwan startups going all-in on the US market, and the growth has been tremendous. My mission is to build the strategy, finance, people, and operating foundation for its next stage, including getting us to IPO.
You'll work closely with me: sit in key meetings, get regular 1-on-1s and honest feedback (fair warning: I will ask a lot of questions), and take on more each quarter.

About Berry AI
Berry AI is the vision AI solution for quick-service restaurants (QSRs) in the US. Our AI-powered operations platform (drive-thru analytics, LP, and store management tooling) is deployed across thousands of locations in the US, and growing fast. Our HQ is in Taipei and backed by FlyTech (TWSE: 6206), so you get startup-level scope inside a business that's already working.
About the role
This is a chief-of-staff-style generalist role by design: strategic when it counts, hands-on when it's needed. You'll work across strategy, finance, people, and operations, with real ownership from day one and strong backing behind you that most startups don't have. We're hiring a Strategy & Operations Manager who loves solving hard problems and is just as happy rolling up their sleeves to make the answer real.
What you'll work on
Roughly 30% strategy & decisions, 30% people operations, 20% finance & business operations, and 20% AI/ops automation. (Will shift according to company needs)
- Support strategic projects end to end: sizing new product and vertical opportunities beyond our core drive-thru analytics, building the pricing and business cases for leadership, plus market and competitor analysis, from the first question to the final recommendation.
- Build scalable people operations: recruiting pipelines, HR policies, and benefits for a team that spans Taiwan, US, and beyond.
- Strengthen our finance and business operations: budgeting and forecasting, unit economics, vendor contracts, and optimizing operations across our Taiwan and US entities.
- Automate how we work: use LLMs and AI agents to turn manual workflows into systems.
You're a strong fit if you have
- 2 to 5 years in strategy, consulting, or operations: for example at a consulting firm, in an in-house strategy or operations team, or at a high-growth startup. Slightly more senior candidates are welcome.
- Strong, structured problem solving: you can take a messy, ambiguous question, break it down, run the analysis, and land a clear recommendation.
- Entrepreneurship: you've built something from scratch or fixed a broken process without a playbook, and you own outcomes, not tasks.
- Appetite for a broad scope: you enjoy moving between strategy, finance, people, data infrastructure, and operations.
- Range from the deck to the details: you'll write the policy, fix the spreadsheet, chase the vendor, and own it end to end.
- Clear written and verbal communication: in English and Mandarin across US/TW.
Don’t tick every box? Apply anyway. We care more about how you think and what you’ve owned than about a perfect checklist.
Bonus points
- Startup experience in a broad, generalist role (e.g., founding team, Chief of Staff).
- Experience operating across TW/US or other international markets.
- You already use AI tools (LLMs, workflow or coding agents) to automate your own work.
- Exposure to restaurant, retail, or multi-site operations.
Why join Berry AI and this role?
- Build in Taiwan for the US market: a high-growth company headquartered in Taipei serving restaurant brands across the US.
- Real AI, real scale: our vision AI runs in thousands of restaurants, so your work shows up on the ground, not in a pilot.
- Taipei hours, not US hours: Taipei is HQ, so our US team meets mostly in our time zone, with no regular late-night calls. Hybrid, about 70% of your time in our Taipei office.
- Work and learn directly with Johnny (see above): a seat in key meetings, regular one-on-ones, and feedback on your work from day one.
- See how a whole company runs: strategy, finance, people, data, and operations, a breadth that takes years to get at a larger company.
Compensation: NT$0.8M to 1.5M total annual cash (12 months’ base + 2 months’ bonus), plus ESOP.
Location: Taipei (Neihu), hybrid
Interview process
1. Intro call (online) with Johnny, VP of S&O and HR (30 minutes)
2. Onsite at our Taipei office (about 3 hours):
1. Case interview (60 minutes)
2. Meet the team (30 minutes)
3. CEO interview (60 minutes)
4. HR (30 minutes)
Note: We aim to give you a decision within a week of your onsite.
