Job Description
Tax teams run on deadlines, data, and judgment. Behind every filing, provision, and indirect tax return is an operation that has to work every period, across jurisdictions, with an audit trail. At Genpact, you’d help build and run the technology that keeps that operation accurate, compliant, and moving. You’d work alongside AI agents and the people who know the work best.
Genpact (NYSE: G) is the Agentic Operations company, where applied AI meets context-rich process intelligence. We run and transform mission-critical operations for global enterprises, grounded in decades of operating core business processes at scale. AI agents bring speed and precision, our people bring judgment, and together they deliver outcomes clients can measure.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst and Scrum Master with a strong background in Tax Technology platforms, spanning tax data and ERP integration, indirect tax determination, tax provision, compliance and filing workflow, and tax reporting systems. The ideal candidate has owned delivery end to end, from ideation and requirements through design, development, testing, production deployment, and ongoing maintenance, within an Agile delivery model.
You will work closely with Tax, Finance, Technology, and business stakeholders to define requirements, manage Agile delivery, and keep tax platforms compliant, well governed, and production-ready through every filing cycle and regulatory change.
Responsibilities
Business Analysis – Tax Operations Technology
Gather and document business and functional requirements for tax platforms, including indirect tax (VAT/GST, sales and use) determination, tax provision, compliance calendars, filing and payment workflow, and audit and notice management
Translate tax regulatory requirements (for example ASC 740/IAS 12, OECD Pillar Two, and local e-invoicing and digital reporting mandates) into clear system requirements and user stories for developers
Partner with Tax, Finance, Accounting, and Technology teams to define workflows for data extraction from ERP and sub-ledgers, tax code mapping, return preparation, review and approval, and period-end close
Produce BRDs, functional specifications, process flow diagrams, data mapping documents, and UAT test scripts
Apply hands-on SQL, data modelling, and data mapping skills across tax data such as transaction-level tax codes, jurisdiction and rate tables, provision workpapers, and reconciliation and remediation data
Conduct gap analysis, impact assessments, and solution design walkthroughs with business and technology stakeholders
Scrum Master & Agile Delivery
Own end-to-end Agile delivery for the Tax Operations Technology workstream(s), including backlog grooming, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
Manage the product backlog with the Product Owner; write and refine user stories, acceptance criteria, and Definition of Done
Track team velocity, proactively remove impediments, and report delivery status to stakeholders and steering committees
Coordinate cross-functional sprint teams (developers, QA, data engineers, and business stakeholders) across the full SDLC
Plan sprints around fixed tax calendars, such as filing deadlines and quarter-end and year-end close, and regulatory effective dates
Champion continuous improvement of Agile practices, ceremonies, and tooling (JIRA/Confluence or equivalent)
Delivery Lifecycle Ownership: Ideation to Production & Maintenance
Lead requirements discovery and solution ideation workshops with tax, finance, and compliance stakeholders
Own solution design walkthroughs, coordinate development and QA cycles, and manage UAT planning and sign-off
Support release management, deployment planning, and production go-live activities
Manage post-production support, including defect triage, enhancement requests, rate and rule updates, minor releases, and ongoing platform maintenance
Maintain traceability across requirements, test cases, and defects throughout the full tax technology lifecycle
Qualifications we seek in you
Minimum qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field
Minimum 6–10 years of experience as a Business Analyst, including at least 3+ years also functioning as a Scrum Master or Agile delivery lead
Proven experience on Tax Technology or Tax Operations platforms, covering at least one of indirect tax, tax provision, or tax compliance and reporting
Demonstrated end-to-end delivery experience across the full lifecycle: ideation, requirements, design, build, test, production deployment, and ongoing maintenance
Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent (for example PSM I/II)
Exposure to JIRA, Confluence, or Azure DevOps for Agile delivery management
Working knowledge of tax regulatory requirements relevant to corporate, indirect, or international tax
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across Tax, Finance, and Technology teams
Good interpersonal skills, with experience working within cross-functional and cross-cultural teams
Preferred qualifications and skills
Experience with tax engines or tax management platforms (for example indirect tax determination, provision, or compliance tools) and ERP tax configuration (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
Experience supporting technology for e-invoicing, Pillar Two, transfer pricing, or global compliance reporting
