Lead Data Scientist

Responsibilities:
Lead the Data Science function and drive the technical direction for ML and AI initiatives.
Build and scale recommendation systems that directly influence consumer experiences and business outcomes.
Explore and apply LLMs and modern AI techniques to enhance personalization, discovery, and recommendations.
Work on high-scale B2C products with large and diverse user datasets.
Own problems end-to-end from problem definition and experimentation to production deployment and impact measurement.
Provide hands-on technical leadership while mentoring and developing Data Scientists within the team.
Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to translate business problems into scalable ML solutions.
Stay ahead of emerging AI/ML trends and identify opportunities to unlock the next generation of consumer experiences.
Requirements:
6+ years of experience in Data Science / Machine Learning, with experience in both individual contribution and people management.
Strong experience building and deploying ML models in production.
Hands-on expertise in Recommendation Systems, Personalization, Ranking, or Search.
Strong understanding of LLMs / Generative AI and their practical applications.
Experience working with large-scale B2C products or consumer-facing platforms.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to work on ambiguous, open-ended problems.
Proven ability to lead and mentor a Data Science team while remaining technically hands-on.
Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
Good to Have:
Experience in consumer internet, e-commerce, marketplaces, media, or other high-scale B2C businesses.
Experience working with large-scale recommendation or personalization platforms.
Experience taking AI/ML products from experimentation to production.
Exposure to modern LLM architectures, AI agents, or other emerging AI technologies.
Team and Leadership:
You will lead a 10-12 member Data Science/ML team, combining people leadership with hands-on technical ownership.
