About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

We're hiring a Lead for Category Experience who will own the end-to-end definition of what the NEET student's learning experience should look like across our platform and work with platform and academic teams to make it real. You'll define what "great" looks like at each touchpoint, write the specs that the platform builds against, set the success criteria, validate outcomes, and iterate until the experience is demonstrably better than what a student gets at a local coaching centre.
The candidate will have responsibilities across the following functions:
Define Best-in-Class Online Pedagogy:
Map the complete student learning journey from pre-class prep through live class, post-class revision, homework, practice, tests, doubt resolution and define the ideal experience at each stage.
Translate pedagogical intent into product specs: what should the practice room experience feel like? How should test analytics be surfaced to drive behaviour change? What's the right engagement loop between live class and self-study? What nudges drive accountability?
Benchmark against what top local coaching delivers in-person.
Identify where online falls short and where it can leapfrog through personalisation, data, and feedback loops.
Design for different student segments- first-timers, repeaters/droppers, different score bands- not one-size-fits-all.
Work with Platforms to Ship the Experience:
Write clear experience requirements and acceptance criteria for platforms.
Maintain a prioritised experience roadmap of what needs to be built, fixed, or redesigned across the student journey and align with platform teams on sequencing and trade-offs.
Review shipped features against your specs. Hold the quality bar.
Flag gaps between what was defined and what got built.
You see the full student journey horizontally; the platform sees individual feature verticals.
Your job is to make sure the pieces add up to a coherent experience.
Work with Academics to Define the Right Pedagogy:
Partner with the Academic team as your domain input layer on what to teach, in what sequence, at what depth, with what reinforcement cadence.
Challenge and push academic thinking with product and data perspectives. "This is how we've always taught" is not a spec.
Translate academic best practices into measurable, instrumentable product experiences.
Co-design new pedagogical formats (e. g., score-band-based learning paths, practice-room models, adaptive homework) that are native to online, not offline formats, copied and pasted onto a screen.
Own Outcome and Adoption Metrics:
Directly accountable for NPS and renewal rates across NEET cohorts, these are the ultimate scorecards of whether your experience design is working.
Own leading indicators: live class attendance, test completion, question practice volume, content consumption depth, and academic feature utilisation.
Build a tight loop: instrument the experience, read the data weekly, identify what's broken, define the fix as a product spec, get it built, measure again.
Run Rapid Experiments:
Default mindset: online pedagogy shouldn't be a lesser version of offline. It's a different medium.
Find and exploit the advantages.
Design and run experiments on new class formats, engagement mechanics, practice models, and accountability systems.
Every experiment has a hypothesis, a metric, and a kill criteria.
Fail fast. Learn. Double down on what moves the metric.
Build a culture of pedagogical innovation with product rigour.
Requirements:
5-9 years in ed-tech product management, with at least 2-3 years owning a learning experience or category experience for a competitive exam segment (NEET/JEE/equivalent).
You've operated as the person who defines the end-to-end experience and works through other platform teams to get it built.
Data-fluent. You think in funnels, cohort analyses, and leading vs. lagging indicators.
High experimentation clock speed.
You ship experiments weekly, not quarterly.
You're comfortable with imperfect data and fast decisions.
Business instinct. You connect product work to business outcomes naturally.
You don't just ship features; you think about whether those features drive retention, NPS, and revenue.
