Job Purpose
To establish, lead, and govern the Procurement & Contracts function.
The role is responsible for leading strategic procurement including sourcing and contract management, cost optimization, risk mitigation, vendor governance, and compliance, ensuring cost-effective, timely, and quality-compliant procurement aligned with project execution schedules. The role ensures vendor management, risk mitigation, value engineering, and supply chain resilience, while ensuring adherence to company procurement governance, sustainability standards, and project-specific requirements.

Responsibilities
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Strategic Planning
Align procurement with project execution schedules, budget targets, and technical specifications.
Support Project Planning & Estimation teams in finalizing the procurement strategy during the bid-to-award transition phase.
Participate in project kick-off meetings to understand project-specific technical and commercial requirements.
Assist in the development of the Procurement Plan and Project Procurement Schedule in coordination with Project Managers and Engineering teams.

Strategic Sourcing
Lead end-to-end sourcing and procurement for new projects post-award — including RFQ preparation, vendor shortlisting, bid evaluation, and contract finalization.
Develop sourcing strategies based on project location, lead-time constraints and cost optimization levers.
Identify alternate makes, product substitutes, and design optimizations in consultation with Engineering and Project Execution teams.
Negotiate commercial terms, warranty clauses, and delivery commitments aligned with project milestones and cash flow targets.
Ensure procurement compliance with project-specific codes (BIS/IS), international standards, safety norms, and statutory clearances (environmental, electrical safety, fire norms, etc.).
Identify cost-saving opportunities through value engineering, alternate sourcing, bulk buying, and early supplier engagement.
Track commodity price trends and currency fluctuations impacting MEP equipment procurement.
Develop procurement playbooks for new project categories — including negotiation strategies, pricing benchmarks, and commercial term libraries.

Vendor Management
Build and maintain a pre-qualified supplier pool.
Manage vendor onboarding, capability assessments, and technical due diligence for new projects.
Develop long-term strategic partnerships with OEMs and authorized channel partners for critical equipment.
Monitor supplier performance on delivery adherence, quality compliance, service responsiveness, and warranty/AMC obligations.

Project Support
Maintain strong coordination with Site Procurement, Contracts Management, and Project Control teams for timely release of purchase orders, material tracking, and logistics planning.
Ensure material delivery schedules are integrated into project timelines and risk mitigation plans (considering lead times, import dependencies, site constraints).
Drive adherence to Procurement Policies, Delegation of Authority (DOA), and Contract Management frameworks specific to project procurement.
Implement tools and systems for real-time procurement tracking, project material dashboards, and risk flags
Integrate ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) considerations into procurement decisions for sustainable project delivery.
