Sr. Engineering Manager

Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team building scalable supply chain and warehouse technology platforms.
Drive the design, development, and delivery of distributed systems powering inventory management, warehouse operations, fulfilment, logistics, and reverse logistics.
Collaborate closely with Product, Operations, Data Science, and Business teams to translate complex supply chain challenges into scalable technology solutions.
Own engineering execution, sprint planning, delivery, technical quality, and operational excellence.
Define engineering best practices around scalability, reliability, observability, security, and performance.
Drive architectural decisions for cloud-native, event-driven, and microservices-based platforms.
Build highly available systems capable of supporting rapidly growing warehouse and fulfilment operations.
Foster a culture of ownership, innovation, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.
Hire, coach, and develop engineers while creating strong career growth opportunities within the team.
Requirements:
10-15 years of software engineering experience, including 2-5 years of engineering management experience.
Strong backend engineering background with expertise in Java and modern distributed systems.
Proven experience building large-scale supply chain, warehouse management (WMS), fulfilment, logistics, inventory, or order management platforms.
Strong understanding of microservices architecture, event-driven systems, distributed systems, REST APIs, and system design.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
Hands-on experience with SQL/NoSQL databases, messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc. ), caching technologies, and CI/CD pipelines.
Experience leading engineering teams in Agile environments with strong delivery ownership.
Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, conduct technical reviews, and build high-performing teams.
Preferred Experience:
Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), inventory management, or reverse logistics platforms.
Background in e-commerce, retail, supply chain, logistics, or marketplace companies.
Exposure to AI-driven supply chain optimisation, forecasting, automation, or operational analytics.
Experience scaling engineering teams in high-growth product organisations.
Strong understanding of operational excellence, platform reliability, and engineering metrics.
