Role Description This full-time Offshore Fabrication Welder role is a hybrid position based in Mumbai, with some work-from-home flexibility for planning, documentation, and coordination tasks. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG/MAG), SMAW (stick), FCAW, and carbon arc gouging on a variety of materials and structures used in offshore drilling and support equipment. The welder will interpret fabrication drawings and welding procedures, fit and align components, carry out all types of fabrication welding, and ensure weld quality through visual checks and compliance with specified standards. The role involves collaborating with engineers and supervisors, following safety protocols in offshore and yard environments, maintaining welding equipment, and completing job reports or documentation as required. Occasional offshore deployment, shift work, and work in confined or elevated spaces may be required, following company safety and regulatory guidelines.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong core welding skills, including Welding, Arc Welding, TIG Welding (GTAW), and MIG Welding (GMAW).
Candidates should possess solid knowledge of Materials relevant to offshore fabrication, such as carbon steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel, including material properties and weldability.
Candidates should possess offshore or heavy industrial fabrication experience, including plate and pipe fabrication, structural welding, and use of FCAW and carbon arc gouging processes.
Candidates should possess the ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, welding procedure specifications (WPS), and work instructions, and to follow industry codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, ISO) as applicable.
Candidates should possess strong commitment to safety, experience with PPE and safe work practices, and the ability to work in offshore, yard, or workshop environments under varying conditions.
Candidates should possess good physical fitness, manual dexterity, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and in a team, including in shifts.
Relevant welding certifications or qualifications from recognized institutions, and prior experience in offshore drilling, shipyards, oil & gas, or heavy fabrication environments, are highly beneficial.
