About the Role
Scale.jobs helps job seekers across the US, Canada, UK, Germany, and Australia get their applications out the door. Hybrid AI + human, Techstars '24, profitable, millions of applications processed. Our own data says word of mouth is our biggest channel, and it has grown for 30 straight months without us doing a single deliberate thing about it. People land an offer and tell three friends. This role makes it deliberate. Turn that loose network into a real community that carries people through a brutal stretch of life, and that becomes our strongest acquisition channel as a side effect.
What you'll actually be doing
Picking the platform and building the space from zero — Discord, WhatsApp, Slack, subreddit, whatever you can defend. Then getting the first 100 real members in and talking.
Running the rituals that keep a community alive: office hours, AMAs with recruiters, resume teardowns, offer-celebration threads, weekly job-market roundups. Showing up consistently when nobody is watching yet.
Finding and empowering the 20-odd power users who will do more for the community than you can alone. Moderators, alumni who landed offers, people who just like helping.
Turning member stories into content — offer announcements, before/after resume threads, "here's exactly how I got the interview" posts — and getting them in front of people who need to see them.
Owning the referral loop end to end: when someone lands a job, they should have an obvious, easy, rewarding way to bring their friends in.
Being the ear on the ground. You'll hear complaints about the product before support tickets do, and you'll bring them straight to us.
Reporting on what's working with real numbers: active members, retention, referrals attributed, applications and revenue traced back to community.

Have built a community before and can show us the receipts. Numbers, screenshots, a link we can open. We care much more about "I grew this from 0 to 8,000 and here's what I did in month two" than about years of experience or where you worked.
Genuinely believe community is a channel, not a cost centre, and can argue for it with data rather than vibes.
Write well and quickly, in a voice that sounds like a person and not a brand account.
Are comfortable being visible. This role involves your face and your name, not an anonymous admin login.
Have real empathy for job seekers. A lot of our members are anxious, rejected, and running low on hope. If you can't sit with that, this will be the wrong job.
Are fine with US and UK time-zone overlap for events a few evenings a week.
Move without being told what to do next. Nobody here will hand you a content calendar.
Bonus, not required: you've been through an international job search yourself, or you've moderated a large forum, subreddit, or Discord.
