QE Consultant

The Quality Engineering consultant is accountable for leading and managing quality engineering and assurance activities across a program, workstream, or multiple projects/initiatives. This role ensures the development, execution, and continuous improvement of test strategies, plans, automation, and quality standards to support the delivery of high-quality technology solutions. The incumbent adds value by driving best practices, compliance, and innovation in software testing, while leading and developing a team of test analysts to achieve organisational objectives.
The candidate will have responsibilities across the following functions:
Test Strategy, Planning, and Execution:
Develop, publish, manage, and execute test strategies, test plans, test cases, traceability matrices, automation scripts, status reports, defect logs, and exit reports.
Identify and obtain required test data and test environments.
Develop, publish, and manage testing estimates and financials.
Team Leadership:
Manage and lead the testing activities of a workstream, program, or multiple projects/initiatives.
Manage and lead a team of test analysts, including capacity management, performance management related to assigned projects/initiatives, productivity and quality of the team's work, and required compliance.
Build team and individual capabilities by providing development opportunities such as job shadowing, special projects, and training.
Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement:
Ensure adherence to QA/QE standards and support the implementation of new standards.
Recognise and identify areas where policies, processes, procedures, tools/methodologies need to be changed or developed, or can be improved.
Identify and implement continuous improvements.
Track and report QA/QE metrics and KPIs such as velocity, defect slippage, etc.
Identify, manage, and implement remediation for any noncompliance items and deviations.
Technical and Domain Expertise:
Provide technical input and feedback on design, assess impact to testing, and find QA automation solutions based on the solution being implemented.
Identify and implement automation, AI, or other emerging solutions to expedite testing, improve quality, and reduce costs.
Apply extensive knowledge of software quality assurance, quality management, and problem-solving methodologies.
Requirements:
5-8 years of experience in QA/QE, 1-3 years of experience in development.
Automation frameworks, tools, and libraries: Selenium WebDriver, Appium, TestNG, Junit.
Programming languages commonly used for automation: Python, Java, JavaScript.
Version control systems for code management, eg Git.
Writing and executing automation test cases, custom functions, building object repositories for web and native page elements.
Web technologies: HTML, CSS, web services.
Basic knowledge of databases and SQL queries.
Good to have: API testing and virtualisation, GitHub Copilot or other Gen AI-based tools, Git, Jira, Confluence, and/or other similar Agile, development, and QA tools.
Nice to have: Parasoft, REST API, and/or other API testing and virtualisation tools.
Perfecto and/or other mobile and browser testing tools.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Problem-solving skills and ability to resolve operational or process issues.
Ability to identify and implement continuous improvements in testing processes.
