Senior Software Engineer

As a Senior Software Engineer, you should have the skills to develop large and/or complex programs, incl. design, coding and unit testing. As part of test responsibilities, the Software Engineer defines and creates unit test cases, executes unit test activities and prepares progress reports. You will ensure compliance with regulatory and security standards, and continuous improvement in service quality, supporting DBG's global digital transformation.
Responsibilities:
Your main task includes development (cloud and hybrid approaches) based on challenging technical requirements and in compliance with applicable regulations and standards in the area of market data distribution and data analytics.
Furthermore, you will analyse the requirements of strategic initiatives incl. specification and implementation of the identified requirements based on existing platforms and processes incl. early access to new technology trends and their adoption.
You will ensure the integration capability of your solution into the existing enterprise architecture in close coordination with the IT Enterprise Architect and the IT Security Officer.
You are involved in planning, conception and implementation of scalable and high-performance backend solutions for low-latency event-driven messaging and streaming.
You actively participate in the integration of the services resp. workloads in the Google Cloud (GCP) landscape.
Review/Confirm Technical System Design, also from an architectural point of view.
Build high-quality code (the code meets the requirements, the code has a low density of defects, the code is easy to understand, the code is easy to change).
Prepare Development and Testing Environment for unit tests.
Unit test the implementation elements.
Perform Component Integration Tests and Software Delivery.
Consolidate Technical Documentation.
Build and integrate the system.
Cooperate with others to shape the implemented and executable systems.
Implement changes with consideration of unit-specific operations requirements.
Knowledge transfer/support junior software engineers.
Report and escalate any problems on time.
Present constructive solutions.
Requirements:
You have completed your university degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Technology or Business Informatics and have at least 10 years of relevant professional experience in information technology / IT architecture.
Strong hands-on experience in Python application development using FastAPI and related backend frameworks.
Expertise in designing and developing scalable RESTful APIs and microservices architectures using FastAPI.
Experience with asynchronous programming concepts (AsyncIO), API performance optimisation, and low-latency backend services.
Proficiency with ORM frameworks such as SQLAlchemy and database technologies including PostgreSQL, MySQL, and NoSQL solutions.
Experience implementing authentication and authorisation mechanisms including OAuth2 JWT, OpenID Connect, and API security best practices.
Familiarity with API documentation standards using OpenAPI/Swagger and automated API lifecycle management.
Strong knowledge of software design patterns, object-oriented programming, test-driven development (TDD), and clean code principles.
Experience with PyTest, unit testing, integration testing, and automated quality assurance.
Experience containerising Python applications using Docker and deploying workloads on Kubernetes/GKE.
Familiarity with event-driven architectures and messaging platforms such as Kafka, Google Pub/Sub or RabbitMQ.
Experience designing RBAC/ABAC authorisation models and policy-driven multi-tenant access control (e. g., OPA, Casbin).
Experience with ETL/ELT pipeline design and data transformation frameworks (e. g., dbt, Apache Airflow, Cloud Dataflow).
Familiarity with analytical data modelling, data cube structures, and reporting engine integration (e. g., Superset, Metabase).
Experience implementing workflow engines or state machine patterns for complex business process orchestration.
Understanding of financial and billing domain logic including invoicing, reconciliation, accrual, and revenue forecasting.
Experience with compliance or reconciliation logic, rule engine design, and data comparison algorithms.
Familiarity with Elasticsearch or equivalent for full-text and faceted search across large datasets.
Experience with SAP or ERP system integration for commercial and reporting data sources.
Experience designing notification and alerting mechanisms (email, in-app, push, webhooks).
Familiarity with document storage, retrieval, and attachment handling in cloud-native environments.
Familiarity with GitHub Actions and CI/CD pipelines.
Understanding of AI/ML concepts and integration.
Strong scripting skills (e. g., Python, Bash).
Experience in developing RAG and LLM-based chatbots.
Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e. g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
You have profound knowledge of computer systems, software architectures, data structures, automation, and programming and professional experience in software development - ideally in a financial services area.
You have very good comprehension, analytical thinking and a high willingness to learn.
You have fundamental knowledge of cloud technologies and experience with at least one of the cloud platforms GCP, AWS or Azure.
Good knowledge of English, both spoken and written.
