We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Backend Engineer to join our team and help shape the future of our company. You will be responsible for designing and building the core backend systems and infrastructure that power our product. Working closely with the founding team, you will translate customer needs into scalable system architecture and a robust technical roadmap aligned with business goals.
Responsibilities:
Design and architect scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems.
Lead system architecture decisions, including microservices, event-driven systems, and distributed system design.
Build and maintain robust APIs and backend services, ensuring reliability and seamless integrations.
Design data storage solutions (SQL/NoSQL) with a focus on performance, consistency, and scalability.
Own infrastructure design across cloud environments (AWS/GCP/Azure), ensuring high availability and fault tolerance.
Implement DevOps best practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).
Optimise backend performance, latency, and system throughput.
Ensure security best practices across application and infrastructure layers.
Collaborate closely with Frontend Engineers, Product Managers, and Data teams to deliver high-quality features.
Participate in the full development lifecycle, including architecture, coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and scaling.
Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and improve system design standards.
Requirements:
Strong understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, and system design principles.
Experience handling high-scale production systems.
Deep knowledge of API design, system reliability, and observability.
Ownership mindset with the ability to work in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment.
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Entrepreneurial drive with comfort, taking end-to-end technical ownership.
