We are looking for a highly experienced Director of Engineering - Java Backend to lead large-scale backend engineering initiatives for a fast-growing B2C/D2C product-based organization. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in scalable backend systems, team leadership, architecture design, and product engineering.
Responsibilities:
Lead and scale backend engineering teams across multiple product lines.
Drive architecture, design, and development of high-scale distributed systems using the Java ecosystem.
Collaborate with Product, Business, and DevOps teams to deliver scalable consumer-facing applications.
Mentor Engineering Managers and Senior Engineers while building a high-performance engineering culture.
Ensure system reliability, performance, security, and scalability.
Define engineering roadmap, technical strategy, and best practices.
Manage hiring, team growth, and stakeholder communication.
Requirements:
14+ years of software engineering experience with strong backend development expertise.
Strong hands-on experience in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, and Distributed Systems.
Experience handling large-scale B2C/D2C platforms with high traffic and transaction volumes.
Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), CI/CD, caching, databases, and system design.
Proven experience managing large engineering teams and engineering managers.
Strong problem-solving, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred:
Experience in Internet, E-commerce, Fintech, or Consumer Tech companies.
Exposure to Kubernetes, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Redis, or event-driven architecture.
Prior experience in scaling engineering teams in fast-paced startup/product environments.
