We're looking for an Engineering Manager (Backend) with deep expertise in Java, microservices, distributed systems, and cloud technologies, combined with proven experience scaling consumer-facing products in a B2C/D2C environment.
Responsibilities:
Lead, mentor, and grow a team of backend engineers.
Remain actively involved in architecture, design reviews, code reviews, and critical technical decisions.
Build and scale highly available, resilient, and performant backend systems serving millions of users.
Partner with Product, Design, Data, and Business teams to deliver impactful customer experiences.
Drive engineering excellence, operational efficiency, and best development practices.
Own delivery planning, technical roadmap, hiring, and team development.
Requirements:
11+ years of software engineering experience with recent engineering management responsibilities.
Strong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, distributed systems, and system design.
Proven experience building large-scale platforms in a B2C/D2C product company.
Strong understanding of databases, caching, messaging systems, and cloud-native architectures.
Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Ability to dive deep into code when required and provide technical leadership to the team.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred:
Experience managing teams of 8-20 engineers.
Exposure to AI-driven products, personalization, recommendation systems, or data-intensive platforms.
Experience with high-traffic, consumer-scale applications.
We're specifically looking for candidates from leading B2C/D2C product companies who are still technically hands-on with Java and backend architecture.
