Company Description Shaarav (Couture Studio) is a fashion studio established in 2009 in Ahmedabad, specializing in Indian ethnic wear that blends traditional craftsmanship with contemporary silhouettes. Founded by Shalu & Darshan Lekhadia with expertise in buying, merchandising, and textiles, the studio has grown into a successful custom-couture brand. Shaarav works with an in-house team of skilled artisans, known for intricate hand-work embroidery styles such as Karchobi, Zardosi, Mochi Bharat, Ari, and Marodi. The studio offers made-to-measure outfits across sarees, lehengas, tunics, dresses, blouses, western wear, and fusion wear, serving clients in India and globally. Shaarav’s designs have been worn by customers worldwide and by well-known celebrities, reflecting a commitment to premium fabrics, fine detailing, and the heritage of Indian craftsmanship.
Role Description The Fashion Designer will be responsible for conceptualizing and developing designs for Indian ethnic and fusion wear, aligned with Shaarav’s brand aesthetics and client requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include sketching and creating collections, selecting fabrics and trims, coordinating with artisans on embroidery and embellishments, and overseeing sampling and final garment construction. The role involves conducting fittings with clients, refining silhouettes based on feedback, and collaborating with the studio team to deliver custom-couture pieces of high quality. The Fashion Designer will also stay informed about fashion trends, market preferences, and traditional techniques to support innovative design solutions. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Ahmedabad.
Qualifications
Strong skills in Fashion Design and Fashion, including sketching, draping, and developing cohesive collections.
Proficiency in Embroidery techniques and embellishment design, with an understanding of traditional Indian hand-work styles.
Experience with Fitting, garment construction, and pattern adjustments to achieve precise, client-specific silhouettes.
Knowledge of Textiles, fabric properties, and surface treatments suitable for couture and ethnic wear.
Degree or formal training in Fashion Design or a related field.
Ability to collaborate effectively with artisans and studio staff, and to communicate clearly with clients.
Attention to detail, strong aesthetic sense, and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
Experience in custom-couture or luxury fashion, especially ethnic or occasion wear, is an advantage.
