Job Location: Hyderabad, Indore and Ahmedabad.
Department: Product Development
Employment Type: Full-Time
Experience Required: 6 – 8 Years
Reporting To: Product Leader
Role:
We are looking for a hands-on and technically sharp Development Manager to lead the engineering of FLIP's BI Migration Plugins within the Product Development team. You will be joining a team of highly competent, high-energy engineers who take strong ownership of what they build — we are looking for someone who matches that drive and raises the bar further.
This role sits at the intersection of product engineering and delivery— you will own the end-to-end development lifecycle of BI migration plugins, working closely with the Product Leader to drive the roadmap from conception to production. You will both build new migration capabilities from scratch on the FLIP platform and enhance the existing suite of plugins that power migrations from tools like Cognos, SSRS, Crystal Reports, and Tableau to Power BI.
Key Responsibilities:
Plugin Development & Engineering
Architect, design, and build new BI migration plugins on the FLIP platform from the ground up, covering source analysis, metadata extraction, logic conversion, and target generation.
Enhance and extend existing FLIP plugins for migrations including Cognos → Power BI, SSRS → Power BI, Crystal Reports → Power BI, Tableau → Power BI, and other BI migration paths.
Own end-to-end development: from requirement analysis and design through coding, testing, deployment, and post-release maintenance.
Ensure plugins handle complex scenarios such as VB.NET/DAX expression conversion, visual mapping, parameterized reports, paginated report generation, and data model transformation.
Technical Leadership
Work alongside a team of highly competent, high-energy engineers on FLIP plugin modules — conduct code reviews, set engineering standards, and contribute to a culture of technical excellence.
Collaborate closely with the Product Leader to translate product roadmap requirements into detailed technical specifications and delivery plans.
Drive architectural decisions around plugin framework design, scalability, extensibility, and quality.
Define and enforce engineering best practices, coding standards, and automated testing strategies for the plugin development lifecycle.
Delivery & Collaboration
Manage sprint planning, task estimation, and delivery milestones for plugin development cycles.
Working close coordination with migration consultants and QA engineers to ensure plugin output achieves functional equivalence and data integrity between source and target platforms.
Proactively identify and resolve technical blockers, bottlenecks, and risks across the development pipeline.
Contribute to documentation of plugin architecture, migration logic, and technical runbooks.
Continuous Improvement
Analyze client migration feedback and production issues to drive iterative improvement of existing plugins.
Evaluate emerging BI tools and platform APIs to identify new migration accelerator opportunities.
Contribute ideas and POCs to expand FLIP's migration coverage and automation depth.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Experience
6–8 years of total experience in software/product development, with at least 2 years in a technical lead or engineering management role.
Proven experience in building or working on BI/data migration tools, platforms, or accelerators.
Hands-on experience with one or more source BI platforms: IBM Cognos, SSRS, Crystal Reports, Tableau, MicroStrategy, or similar.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Power BI — familiarity with Power BI data models, DAX, Power BI Service, paginated reports, and Power BI Report Builder is an advantage.
Technical Skills
Strong proficiency in Python and/or Java for backend plugin development; good working knowledge of the Spring Boot framework and Angular is required.
Experience with XML/JSON parsing, metadata extraction, AST processing, or code-to-code transformation techniques.
Familiarity with low-code/no-code platform development or plugin/extension framework design.
Exposure to REST API integration and cloud platforms (Azure preferred); good understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices including version control, automated testing, containerisation, and release management.
Comfortable working with SQL, data modeling concepts, and schema conversion techniques.
Leadership & Interpersonal Skills
Ability to coordinate and work effectively with a team of engineers — comfortable guiding peers and facilitating technical discussions.
Excellent communication skills — able to interface clearly with the Product Leader and cross-functional teams.
Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to break down complex technical challenges into actionable development tasks.
Detail-oriented and quality-driven, with a strong sense of ownership over product outcomes.
Good to Have:
Prior experience building SaaS products or platform plugins in a product company.
Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric — including Fabric workloads, pipelines, and data platform capabilities — is a plus.
Knowledge of RPA platforms such as UiPath or Microsoft Power Automate.
Experience with Informatica, Alteryx, SSIS, or other ETL tools.
Exposure to LLM/AI-assisted code conversion or metadata intelligence use cases.
What You Will Work On at Kanerika:
Your core focus will be building and improving FLIP's BI Migration Plugin suite. You will work across multiple migration paths — such as Cognos, SSRS, Crystal Reports, and Tableau to Power BI — developing the plugin logic that handles metadata extraction, expression conversion, visual mapping, and report generation. You will also take on new migration paths as the product roadmap evolves, contributing directly to the platform's growing coverage and automation depth.
Why Join Kanerika:
Work on a high-impact, proprietary product platform (FLIP) that is transforming enterprise data modernization.
Be part of a fast-growing, Microsoft Solutions Partner firm with a strong focus on innovation and delivery excellence.
Opportunity to build and lead an engineering team in a domain-critical vertical — BI migration is at the heart of Kanerika's growth trajectory.
Exposure to cutting-edge AI, automation, and cloud-native data platform technologies.
