Senior Furniture Designer
Can you look at a furniture concept and figure out how it should actually be built?
We’re looking for a Senior Furniture Designer who understands furniture beyond its appearance — someone who can turn a product idea into a strong, functional, manufacturable and commercially viable piece of furniture.
What You’ll Do
Develop the complete structural design of furniture based on market research, product requirements and design concepts.
Decide dimensions, construction methods, materials, panel thicknesses, joints, hardware and mechanisms.
Create accurate 2D technical drawings and 3D CAD models for production.
Prepare and validate BOM/BOQ, material and component requirements.
Ensure designs are structurally sound, manufacturable, cost-effective and suitable for flat-pack/assembly where required.
Work closely with manufacturing teams, suppliers and other designers to develop prototypes and resolve production issues.
Identify and improve structural, functional and manufacturing problems in existing products.
Balance aesthetics, functionality, durability, material usage and manufacturing cost.
Develop furniture from concept through prototype → testing → refinement → final production.
What We’re Looking For
5+ years of relevant experience in Furniture Design, Product Design, Industrial Design or Furniture Product Development.
Strong understanding of furniture construction and manufacturing processes.
Excellent knowledge of MDF, particle board, plywood, solid wood, metal and other furniture materials.
Strong knowledge of furniture hardware, fittings, joints and assembly systems.
Excellent AutoCAD / CAD skills and strong 3D modelling capability.
Ability to understand ergonomics, proportions, dimensions and structural requirements.
Experience with BOM/BOQ, material calculations and production drawings.
Strong understanding of manufacturing and design feasibility.
Good judgement of materials, colours, proportions and overall product aesthetics.
Strong problem-solving ability and experience working with factories/manufacturers.
The Person We Need
You shouldn't need someone to tell you exactly how to build the product.
You should be able to look at a concept and ask:
Will it work?
Can we manufacture it?
What material should we use?
How should it be assembled?
Will it survive real-world use?
Can we produce it at the right cost?
If you can answer those questions — and turn the answers into a production-ready product — we want to hear from you.
