About The Role
We are looking for an Analyst – Steel Market to track steel markets, conduct primary and secondary research, assess market prices, and develop actionable market intelligence across various steel products. The role involves regular interaction with steel manufacturers, traders, distributors, stockists, service centers, processors, and end-users to develop reliable pricing benchmarks and insightful market reports.
Roles & Responsibilities
Conduct primary and secondary research to collect, validate, and analyse steel pricing and market data.
Track steel prices, demand-supply trends, production, capacity utilisation, imports, exports, and other key market indicators.
Develop and maintain pricing methodologies and benchmark assessments through continuous interaction with market participants.
Build and maintain relationships with steel manufacturers, traders, distributors, stockists, service centers, processors, and institutional buyers.
Expand the network of reliable pricing contributors across domestic and international markets.
Identify and onboard new market participants to strengthen benchmark coverage and data quality.
Prepare daily market updates, weekly insights, analytical articles, demand outlooks, and industry reports.
Prepare reports covering steel prices, production trends, capacity additions, infrastructure and construction demand, automotive demand, raw material developments, and trade flows.
Maintain accurate pricing databases, dashboards, market trackers, and historical data.
Monitor competitor activities, policy changes, government initiatives, international trade developments, and other industry movements.
Support clients by responding to market-related queries with accurate market interpretation and data-backed insights.
Participate in client meetings, product demonstrations, webinars, presentations, and industry-focused content initiatives.
Coordinate with research, consulting, and sales teams on customised research assignments and client deliverables.
Ensure compliance with relevant pricing principles, methodologies, audit requirements, and internal content quality guidelines.
Skills Required
Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
Good understanding of the steel industry, commodity markets, and industrial value chains.
Strong primary research, data collection, and market interpretation skills.
Excellent communication, networking, and stakeholder management abilities.
Strong report writing and presentation skills.
Ability to analyse large datasets and convert information into meaningful market insights.
Proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
Ability to build and maintain long-term relationships with industry stakeholders.
Preferred Experience
3–5 years of relevant experience in the steel industry, commodity research, market intelligence, price reporting, procurement, sourcing, B2B sales, trading, or related fields.
Experience in steel procurement for construction, infrastructure, EPC, manufacturing, automotive, or engineering companies.
Experience in B2B sales or trading of steel products, including TMT bars, structural steel, HR, CR, GI, stainless steel, pipes, tubes, or other flat/long products.
Experience conducting primary research through interaction with manufacturers, traders, distributors, stockists, service centers, fabricators, processors, and institutional buyers.
Experience in collecting, validating, and analysing pricing data and preparing market reports will be highly preferred.
Exposure to commodity price assessment, market intelligence, or pricing methodologies will be an added advantage.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Business, Commerce, or a related field.
Relevant experience and strong industry knowledge will be given preference.
