Position Summary
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on equipment leader to oversee fleet procurement, maintenance, and asset management across West Virginia operations. This role is responsible for maximizing equipment performance, optimizing total cost of ownership, and ensuring the organization maintains a safe, reliable, and competitive fleet.
The Director, Equipment & Asset Management will partner closely with executive leadership and operational teams to develop long-term equipment strategies, manage capital investments, improve asset utilization, and lead maintenance operations across multiple locations. The successful candidate will bring a blend of operational leadership, financial acumen, technical expertise, and a passion for developing high-performing teams.
What You'll Do
Lead Fleet Strategy & Asset Optimization
Develop and execute long-range fleet and equipment strategies that support business growth and operational objectives.
Create and manage multi-year capital expenditure plans, including equipment replacement strategies and fleet modernization initiatives.
Optimize fleet utilization and asset deployment to ensure equipment availability while minimizing operating costs.
Conduct lifecycle and cost analyses to maximize asset performance and return on investment.
Develop and implement equipment acquisition, redeployment, leasing, and disposal strategies.
Drive Operational Excellence
Partner with operations leaders to improve equipment performance, reliability, and productivity across all facilities.
Establish maintenance best practices that reduce downtime and improve operational efficiency.
Lead initiatives focused on preventive maintenance, planning and scheduling, inventory management, fuel management, and equipment reliability.
Utilize fleet management technology, telematics, analytics, and emerging tools to drive continuous improvement.
Identify opportunities to improve worksite conditions and operating practices that enhance equipment performance.
Lead Safety & Compliance
Champion a proactive safety culture and ensure compliance with all applicable company, regulatory, and environmental requirements.
Support risk management initiatives and maintain high standards for equipment and maintenance operations.
Promote safe work practices across maintenance shops and field operations.
Develop High-Performing Teams
Lead, coach, and develop maintenance leaders and equipment personnel throughout the state.
Foster a performance-driven culture focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and employee growth.
Support succession planning, talent development, and workforce engagement initiatives.
Serve as a trusted resource and advocate for maintenance teams across the organization.
Manage Financial Performance
Oversee fleet-related operating and capital budgets.
Evaluate equipment investments and maintenance strategies to ensure strong financial returns.
Monitor key performance indicators and drive initiatives that improve financial and operational outcomes.
Partner with business leaders to ensure equipment operations support overall company profitability and growth objectives.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Heavy Equipment Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Progressive leadership experience in heavy equipment, fleet management, maintenance management, construction materials, mining, aggregates, transportation, or related industries.
Experience managing large equipment fleets and maintenance operations across multiple locations.
Proven success developing capital plans, managing budgets, and improving asset utilization.
Strong knowledge of equipment maintenance practices, fleet optimization strategies, and asset lifecycle management.
