[Hyderabad] Java Technical Leader | 7+ YOE

Job Summary
Vortech is a fast-growing B2B SaaS company building enterprise-grade platforms for global partners. As we establish our new engineering hub in Hyderabad, we are looking for a Java Team Lead to join as one of the founding members.
In this role, you will combine hands-on software engineering with technical leadership. You will lead the design and delivery of scalable backend systems, contribute to the codebase, mentor engineers, and collaborate closely with engineering teams across different locations.
This is a technical leadership role, not a people-management position.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and development of Java-based microservices and backend systems for Vortech's B2B SaaS platform.
Drive technical decisions around architecture, data models, API design, and service boundaries.
Write production-quality code and contribute hands-on to key projects.
Establish and maintain coding standards, code review, testing, and engineering best practices.
Own sprint-level technical delivery, including planning, estimation, risk identification, and issue resolution.
Act as the technical point of contact for the Hyderabad engineering team and collaborate with global engineering hubs.
Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, pairing, and structured feedback.
Participate in technical interviews and engineering hiring as the Hyderabad team grows.
Champion engineering quality through test automation, CI/CD, observability, and reliable production deployments.
Work closely with QA to build quality into the development process from the beginning.
Monitor and improve engineering performance using DORA metrics, including deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate, and MTTR.
Identify technical debt and propose solutions that improve product quality, engineering productivity, and client experience.
Communicate technical concepts and constraints clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
Must Have
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
7+ years of professional Java development experience, including at least 2 years in a Tech Lead
Strong expertise in:
Java 11+
Spring Boot / Spring Cloud
REST APIs
Microservices architecture
Relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
Database design, query optimization, and indexing
Maven or Gradle
SLF4J / Logback
Observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana
Strong understanding of software development life cycles and modern transaction-processing environments.
Good knowledge of project management and Agile methodologies.
Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Comfortable collaborating with distributed teams across different time zones.
Nice to Have
Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.
Experience with event-driven architectures such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
Experience with Redis, MongoDB, or DynamoDB.
Understanding of WebSocket-based workflows.
Exposure to frontend technologies such as ReactJS.
Experience with enterprise SaaS concepts such as:
Multi-tenancy
OAuth
Webhooks
API gateways
SaaS integrations
Experience working with global or multi-hub engineering teams.
Understanding of SaaS business metrics such as churn, NPS, and SLA.
Comfortable learning and adopting new technologies.
Strong ownership, problem-solving, and result-oriented mindset.
Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and deliver under tight timelines.
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
