The pressure point
OEM contracts in this business carry real penalty clauses for defect rates and delivery misses, and this supplier's scrap and rework figures have been drifting the wrong way for two quarters. The plant has the equipment and the people to fix it; it has not had one person whose full-time job is finding root cause and driving the fix through to close.
The work
Diagnosis and improvement
Lead root-cause investigations on recurring defects and scrap drivers on the shop floor
Run Lean and Six Sigma projects targeting cycle time, rework, and first-pass yield
Facilitate kaizen events with line supervisors and quality engineers
Tracking and standardisation
Own the plant's improvement project pipeline and report progress against OEM-linked targets
Standardise fixes into updated work instructions so gains do not erode after a few weeks
Coordinate with quality on any changes that touch OEM-approved process documentation
What you'd bring
3 to 8 years in continuous improvement, industrial engineering, or quality roles in an automotive-component or similarly regulated manufacturing setting
Green Belt or higher Lean Six Sigma certification, with real project outcomes to show
Working familiarity with OEM quality systems (IATF-style documentation, PPAP, or equivalent) is a strong plus
Confidence running a root-cause session on the floor, not just presenting findings afterward
On location
On-site at the plant in Pune or Chennai, given the shop-floor nature of the work; this is not a hybrid or remote role.
