About the Role
We are looking for a a passionate and detail-oriented Quality Engineer who can independently own product confidence for an assigned product scope across the complete lifecycle — from requirements and technical design through validation, release readiness, production health and continuous improvement.
You will work as a quality partner to Product, Engineering, DevOps and Business teams, bringing business understanding, risk-based thinking, automation-first engineering and production learning into day-to-day delivery. This role goes beyond traditional software testing: you will help prevent issues early, validate end-to-end product and business journeys, enable evidence-based release decisions and turn real-world learnings into preventive improvements.
This role offers an opportunity to work on large-scale B2B commerce solving real-world commerce, supply chain and operational challenges. If you enjoy combining business understanding with engineering and automation skills, this role will provide an excellent platform to grow into a modern Quality Engineer.
What You'll Do
Understand the Product & Prevent Issues Early
Understand business objectives, customer journeys, operational workflows, product requirements and success criteria for your assigned product area.
Participate actively in PRD/BRD, backlog, solution and technical-design discussions; challenge ambiguity, assumptions, missing scenarios and dependencies.
Identify quality risks, dependencies, and test coverage requirements during the early stages of development. Apply risk-based testing principles to maximize quality and coverage.
Design test strategies, test scenarios, test cases, and test data for assigned features and releases.
Identify where defects and production escapes could have been prevented or detected earlier in the SDLC.
Automate & Engineer for Quality
Adopt an automation-first mindset — identify repeatable validation during feature development and automate at the appropriate API/service, integration or UI layer.
Develop, maintain and improve reliable automated checks for critical business journeys and regression coverage.
Contribute to scripting, test data and engineering practices that enable fast, maintainable feedback.
Use targeted exploratory/manual testing for new, complex, high-risk or experience-focused behaviour where human investigation adds value.
Use AI-assisted techniques for scenario creation, test data generation, failure analysis and quality-risk identification.
Own End-to-End Product, Process & Experience Quality
Own end-to-end quality validation for assigned features/modules — not just individual stories.
Validate complete customer and business journeys across business rules, APIs/integrations, data, operational workflows and cross-system/POD dependencies.
Assess regression impact and protect critical existing journeys as the product evolves.
Include applicable non-functional considerations such as performance and usability in the quality approach.
Ensure defects communicate customer/business impact, supporting evidence and risk — not only technical symptoms.
Enable Confident Releases
Own quality validation for the assigned scope through QA, UAT support, rollout and post-release verification.
Communicate quality readiness using evidence — coverage completed, known limitations, unresolved risks, dependencies and residual risk.
Provide a clear quality recommendation for release readiness rather than simply reporting testing completion.
Escalate quality risks early and enable Product and Engineering teams to make informed release trade-offs.
Learn from Production & Improve
Participate in production issue triage for the assigned product area and help identify product, process and SDLC gaps.
Use production incidents, user/business feedback and relevant product-health signals to understand real-world quality, usability and journey effectiveness.
Contribute to defect escape analysis, root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
Turn learnings into stronger requirements, design checks, scenarios, automation, regression coverage, test data, monitoring and engineering practices.
Identify recurring failure patterns and contribute reusable quality assets and learnings across teams/PODs.
Alignment with Ways of Working
Work as part of Agile teams and actively participate in sprint ceremonies.
Collaborate effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders to continuously improve quality practices.
Contribute to improving QA processes, test assets and engineering practices.
Take ownership of deliverables while continuously learning and adapting to new technologies.
What Makes You a Great Fit?
Must Have
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent, with 2–5 years of experience in Software/Product Quality Engineering.
• Strong understanding of functional, integration, exploratory, regression and end-to-end testing.
• Good programming skills in Java or Python, with the ability to build and maintain automated tests.
• Hands-on experience with UI and API automation using modern tools/frameworks.
• Good understanding of REST APIs, HTTP concepts, integration testing, SQL, databases and data validation.
• Experience identifying quality risks, designing test approaches/scenarios and independently validating assigned features.
• Strong analytical, debugging and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate defects and risks in customer/business terms.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills across Product, Engineering, DevOps and Business teams.
Good to Have
• Experience with Selenium, Rest Assured or equivalent UI/API automation frameworks.
• Exposure to Git, CI/CD pipelines, microservices, distributed systems and cloud-based applications.
• Exposure to performance, usability or other non-functional quality areas.
• Experience using AI/GenAI tools for test design, automation, test data or failure analysis.
• Experience in B2B Commerce, Retail, Marketplace, Supply Chain or FinTech domains.
• Exposure to production monitoring/observability tools and production issue analysis.
