Role Description
This is a remote, contract role for an IB MYP Science tutor at Filo. The tutor will conduct one-on-one live video sessions, guiding students through IB MYP Science concepts, assignments, and exam preparation. Day-to-day responsibilities include explaining scientific principles in a clear and engaging way, addressing students’ questions in real time, and tailoring support to individual learning needs. The tutor will use digital tools to provide interactive explanations, share resources, and reinforce inquiry-based and conceptual understanding aligned with IB MYP standards. The role also involves tracking student progress, maintaining a professional and supportive learning environment, and collaborating with Filo’s platform guidelines to ensure high-quality academic support.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Science, with thorough understanding of IB MYP Science curriculum and related concepts.
Demonstrated Analytical Skills to diagnose learning gaps, solve problems systematically, and guide students through complex questions.
Excellent Communication skills, including the ability to explain ideas clearly, listen actively, and adapt teaching style to diverse learners.
Background in Education, such as teaching or tutoring experience, familiarity with inquiry-based learning, and student-centered pedagogy.
Research skills to supplement lessons with up-to-date examples, real-world applications, and additional learning resources.
Comfort with online teaching tools, video platforms, and digital whiteboards; ability to manage sessions responsibly in a remote environment.
Relevant academic qualification in Science or Education (Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred), with IB experience considered an advantage.
Reliable internet connection, professional conduct, and a commitment to providing inclusive, respectful, and supportive learning experiences.
