About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
Company: Vayuveda Technologies
Location: Vadodara, Gujarat
Primary software: Autodesk Alias Surface / Alias AutoStudio
Preferred experience: 3–6 years in advanced surface modelling
About the role:
Vayuveda Technologies is looking for a Design Engineer with strong Autodesk Alias experience to develop aircraft lofts and precise external surface geometry.
The engineer will translate aerodynamic definitions, aircraft layouts and engineering requirements into controlled surface models for design evaluation, analysis, prototyping and downstream manufacturing development.
Key responsibilities:
Develop aircraft outer mould line geometry, including fuselage, wings, empennage, nacelles and fairings.
Build accurate curves and surfaces from airfoil coordinates, cross-sections, station definitions, sketches and engineering layouts.
Preserve specified airfoil profiles, chord, sweep, twist, dihedral and other aerodynamic constraints.
Create and refine transitions such as wing-to-fuselage junctions, nacelle interfaces and fairings.
Evaluate surface continuity, curvature, gaps, overlaps and geometric quality against agreed tolerances.
Maintain intentional edges and aerodynamic features while improving surface quality.
Incorporate packaging and structural interface requirements in coordination with the aircraft engineering team.
Prepare geometry for transfer to engineering CAD, aerodynamic analysis and prototype tooling workflows.
Check exported geometry in the receiving CAD system and resolve translation issues.
Maintain organised native models, revisions, reference geometry and release documentation.
Required skills and knowledge
Strong practical proficiency in Autodesk Alias Surface or Alias AutoStudio.
Advanced NURBS curve and surface construction.
Understanding of control vertices, surface degree, spans, patch layout and trimming.
Ability to evaluate positional, tangent and curvature continuity and apply the appropriate requirement to each interface.
Experience with curvature combs, surface deviation checks and highlight or zebra analysis.
Ability to interpret engineering dimensions, coordinate systems, sections and geometric tolerances.
Understanding of aircraft lofting principles and the importance of preserving aerodynamic geometry.
Experience delivering usable CAD surfaces beyond visual presentation models.
Additional software skills
Working knowledge of CATIA, Siemens NX or SolidWorks for downstream engineering collaboration.
Experience exchanging geometry using STEP and IGES formats.
Familiarity with OpenVSP or aerodynamic geometry workflows is advantageous.
Basic scripting or geometry automation skills are desirable.
Preferred background
A degree or diploma in aerospace, mechanical, automotive or industrial design, or equivalent demonstrated surface-modelling experience.
Industrial experience from Aerospace/Automobile/Robotics industry.
Aircraft or UAV surfacing experience is preferred. Candidates with strong automotive Class-A surfacing experience are also welcome, provided they can work accurately from engineering constraints.
Expected deliverables
Controlled native Alias models.
Aircraft master curves, sections and surface definitions.
Surface-quality and tolerance-check records.
Validated geometry exports for downstream engineering use.
Revision history and documentation of approved geometry changes.
Portfolio requirement
Applicants should provide examples showing curve construction, surface patch layout, continuity evaluation and final engineering geometry. Please describe your personal contribution to each example and share only material you are authorised to disclose.
