Role Description The Data Protection Consultant is a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai. The consultant will advise clients on data privacy and protection strategies, conduct assessments of existing processes, and recommend improvements to meet global regulatory requirements. Daily responsibilities include analyzing data flows, reviewing policies and procedures, supporting privacy impact assessments, and helping clients implement Privacy Pillar’s tools and frameworks. The role involves collaborating with legal, IT, and business stakeholders, providing training and guidance on privacy best practices, and monitoring regulatory developments that may affect client operations. The consultant will also assist with incident response planning, compliance documentation, and ongoing governance to ensure robust data protection.
Qualifications
Strong knowledge of Data Privacy and relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, DPDPA).
Experience with Data Security and Information Security controls, frameworks, and best practices.
Understanding of Cybersecurity principles and risk management related to personal data.
Consulting skills, including stakeholder engagement, requirements gathering, and solution design.
Ability to interpret legal and regulatory requirements and translate them into practical processes.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present complex concepts simply.
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Security, Computer Science, Management, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., CIPP, CIPM, CISSP, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer) are an advantage.
Previous experience in data protection, privacy compliance, or security consulting is preferred.
