Role Description The Data Protection Consultant is a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai. This role is responsible for advising clients on data privacy and protection strategies, helping them implement Privacy Pillar’s tools and frameworks to meet regulatory requirements and reduce risk. Daily tasks include assessing data processing activities, conducting privacy impact and risk assessments, reviewing policies and procedures, and recommending controls aligned with laws such as GDPR, CCPA, and DPDPA. The consultant collaborates with technical and business stakeholders to design and optimize consent management, DSAR workflows, and data governance practices. The role also involves delivering training, preparing compliance documentation, and staying current with emerging privacy and security regulations to guide clients proactively.
Qualifications
Strong expertise in Data Privacy and Data Protection, including practical experience with frameworks and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, DPDPA).
Solid understanding of Data Security and Information Security principles, including risk assessment, controls, and governance practices.
Knowledge of Cybersecurity concepts and their application to protecting personal data and sensitive information.
Demonstrated Consulting skills, with experience advising organizations on compliance, policy development, and operational implementation.
Experience conducting privacy impact assessments, data mapping, and policy or procedure reviews for diverse organizations.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical guidance.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, and to work on-site in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field; professional certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, or CISSP are an advantage.
