Hirely is sharing an opportunity with one of the hiring partners for Mathematics professionals to contribute to the SciCode project, which develops rigorous scientific coding tasks used to train and evaluate frontier AI models.
As a Scientific Coding Trainer, you'll create, implement, test, and review challenging mathematical and scientific programming problems using Python.
What You'll Do
Create rigorous scientific coding problems consisting of a main problem and at least 3 connected sub-problems
Design problems that progressively build toward a complete solution
Implement verified golden solutions in Python
Develop comprehensive unit tests for scientific coding solutions
Create discriminative test cases that distinguish correct from incorrect AI outputs
Validate scientific correctness, determinism, and problem quality
Run QC checks through the Turing Central Task Platform (CTP)
Apply Tier 1 structure checks and Tier 2 quality rubrics
Iterate on tasks based on QC and LLM evaluation feedback
Optimize tasks to meet Pass@K evaluation requirements
Maintain consistently high-quality submissions with minimal rework
Participate in review sessions, feedback meetings, and project standups during required overlap hours
Who We're Looking For
Master's or PhD in Mathematics
Strong Python programming skills
Experience with scientific computing
Ability to formulate rigorous, well-posed mathematical/scientific problems
Strong understanding of constraints, expected outputs, and deterministic solutions
Exceptional attention to detail
Experience with AI data annotation, research, or scientific writing
Familiarity with LLM evaluation frameworks or coding benchmarks
Experience with scientific Python libraries such as: NumPy, SciPy, SymPy
Domain-specific scientific tools
Published research or academic project experience in a STEM field is a plus
Compensation & Terms
Full-time contractor/freelancer engagement
40 hours/week
