JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced Instrument & Control Lead to lead and oversee instrumentation, control systems, and related engineering activities for oil & gas, energy, and thermal power plant projects. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership across engineering, construction, commissioning, and operational activities, ensuring that all I&C systems are delivered safely, reliably, and in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and supervise Instrumentation & Control engineering activities across project phases.
Review and approve I&C engineering deliverables, specifications, drawings, datasheets, and technical documentation.
Provide technical leadership for DCS, PLC, SCADA, ESD, F&G, and other control systems.
Coordinate with process, electrical, mechanical, civil, operations, and project teams to ensure effective system integration.
Oversee installation, testing, commissioning, loop checking, and start-up activities.
Ensure instrumentation and control systems comply with project requirements, international standards, and applicable HSE requirements.
Review vendor documentation, technical proposals, and equipment selections.
Support troubleshooting, technical investigations, and resolution of I&C-related issues.
Monitor contractors and vendors to ensure quality, progress, and compliance with approved engineering requirements.
Participate in design reviews, HAZOP/HAZID, SIL assessments, FAT, SAT, commissioning, and start-up activities as required.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Instrumentation & Control engineers and technicians.
Ensure proper documentation, as-built records, punch-list closeout, and handover to operations.
Promote safe working practices and continuous improvement throughout all I&C activities.
REQUIREMENTS
Education
Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation & Control, Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience
12+ years of relevant experience, preferably within the Oil & Gas, Energy, Petrochemical, or Power sector.
Proven experience in a senior/lead I&C engineering or project role – must have demonstrated seniority as a Team Lead, not just a few years in a lead position.
Thermal power plant experience is a key requirement – experience with CCGT/CCPP, gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSG, boilers, and balance of plant (BOP) systems.
Strong knowledge of instrumentation, control systems, process automation, and industrial communication systems.
Experience with DCS, PLC, SCADA, ESD and Fire & Gas systems.
Strong understanding of engineering standards, project specifications, commissioning practices, and HSE requirements.
Experience working with EPC contractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
Strong leadership, coordination, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Fluency in English is required.
PREFERRED
Experience working on oil & gas production facilities, processing plants, pipelines, terminals, or energy projects.
Familiarity with international standards such as IEC, ISA, API, NFPA, and relevant industry standards.
Relevant professional certifications would be an advantage.
Thermal power plant experience – CCGT/CCPP, gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSG, boilers.
