Business IT & Automation Specialist

Role Overview -
This role exists to build the company's technology foundation from the ground up, while also owning the broader Business IT function as the company scales. This is a hands-on, builder-first role. You will write real code every day — dashboards, internal tools, automations, and integrations — using AI coding tools (Claude, Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, etc.) as a core part of how you work, not an occasional aid. We are looking for someone genuinely sharp, current with how software is built today, and capable of taking a company from zero systems to a working technology backbone with minimal oversight.
Key Responsibilities -
1. Software Development & Systems Building:
• Design, build and maintain internal web applications, APIs, dashboards, and automation tools — Python is mandatory, alongside JavaScript, HTML/CSS and other languages as needed.
• Use AI coding tools (Claude, Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, etc.) as a core part of your daily workflow — for building, debugging, reviewing, and shipping faster. You should be able to speak to specific workflows, not just casual use.
• Build and maintain integrations between business systems (ERP, e-commerce, marketing tools, etc.) via REST APIs, and write clean, well-documented, maintainable code.
2. Business IT Ownership:
• Own the ERP system end-to-end once selected — evaluation, implementation, configuration, and continuous improvement.
• Manage IT infrastructure — networks, servers, cloud platforms, user access, backups, security, and documentation.
• Act as the primary technology point of contact across departments, translating operational needs into working solutions, and manage vendor relationships for software and tooling.
3. Business Problem-Solving, Automation & Reporting:
• Work directly with management and business teams to identify operational pain points and turn them into working software.
• Identify manual, repetitive processes and automate them; evaluate existing tools and recommend improvements.
• Build dashboards and MIS reports that improve data accuracy and give management better visibility.
• Mentor junior/trainee team members as the technical team grows.
What We're Actually Looking For - Capability matters more than years on a resume. That said, this role requires someone who can operate independently from day one — which in practice tends to mean:
• Strong, demonstrable hands-on coding ability — Python (Strong); JavaScript, SQL, and REST APIs are part of daily work.
• Real, current fluency with AI coding tools as part of your actual workflow — able to describe specific ways you use them to build faster and better.
• A genuine habit of staying current with how software is built, adopting new tools and approaches as the field moves.
• Proven ability to build something from nothing — a system, product, or internal tool with no existing structure to lean on.
• Comfort owning outcomes end-to-end without heavy oversight, and communicating with nontechnical teams.
• A portfolio of real projects you've built, and Git/version control experience.
Nice to Have:
• Exposure to ERP systems (Zoho, Odoo, SAP B1, NetSuite, custom-built, or similar), or strong willingness to lead an ERP implementation.
• Familiarity with an additional language/framework — Node.js, PHP, Java, .NET, or similar.
• Experience with Shopify (Liquid) or other e-commerce platforms.
• Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), IT infrastructure basics, and cybersecurity fundamentals.

Growth Path: You start by building real software and systems from scratch. As you take on more ownership of ERP, infrastructure, and the growing technical team, this role can grow into a more senior leadership position within the company as it scales.
