About The Role
The HR Manager at Huhtamaki’s Goodyear, AZ manufacturing facility plays a vital role in overseeing all human resources functions within the site. This position is responsible for managing safety, security, employee relations, compensation, benefits, training, and communication initiatives. The HR Manager acts as a strategic partner to plant leadership, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and fostering a positive workplace culture. Additionally, this role involves direct engagement with employees on the production floor, promoting safety, morale, and effective communication. The successful candidate will lead efforts to continuously improve HR processes, support organizational goals, and ensure the site remains compliant with federal, state, and local employment and safety laws.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, or a related field, with PHR or SPHR certification preferred. A minimum of five years of HR experience in a manufacturing environment is required, along with a strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, continuous improvement, and Six Sigma techniques. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly desirable to facilitate effective communication across diverse teams. The candidate should demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong supervisory capabilities, and the ability to analyze data for informed decision-making. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel, is essential. Experience working with EEO/AAP programs and developing employee training initiatives will be advantageous.
Responsibilities
The HR Manager will be responsible for coordinating safety, security, and health programs in accordance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements. This includes interacting with employees, supervisors, and managers to promote a safe working environment and ensuring policies and procedures are effectively administered. The role involves interpreting and implementing company policies related to employment, wages, and training, as well as developing site-specific policies when necessary. The HR Manager will administer compensation and benefits programs, keeping employees informed of any updates or changes.
Maintaining positive employee relations is a key focus, requiring daily engagement with shop floor employees to foster open communication and address concerns promptly. The role also involves developing and maintaining personnel records, ensuring compliance with all legal and corporate directives, and managing site security programs to meet audit standards. The HR Manager will participate in corporate HR initiatives, serve as a resource for other HR professionals, and oversee employee training programs to ensure regulatory compliance.
Leadership responsibilities include supervising the Administrative Assistant, providing guidance, development opportunities, and training to support team effectiveness. The role also entails representing the plant in dealings with local, state, and federal agencies concerning employment, safety, and public relations matters. The HR Manager will contribute to continuous improvement efforts aligned with lean manufacturing principles and support the organization’s strategic goals.
