Job Overview
We are seeking a UI/UX Designer to lead the design of a new internal AI platform: a team web application and an admin console used daily by attorneys and support staff. This is a front-loaded engagement of roughly two months, with the goal of delivering a complete, signed-off design system that the development team builds from. This position is with a USA- and Canada-based employer and is open to qualified candidates working remotely from outside North America.

Ideal Candidate
You are a product designer who is comfortable running discovery with busy professionals and turning what you hear into clear, usable interfaces. You design for real workflows rather than showcase screens, and you deliver systems that developers can build from without guesswork. You work independently, communicate clearly in writing, and finish what you start.
Key Responsibilities
Discovery and Research
Run discovery sessions with the principal and team to map current workflows.
Document user needs across voice, chat, task, approval and document review scenarios.
Translate findings into user flows and information architecture.
Interface Design
Produce wireframes and high-fidelity designs for the team web application.
Design the admin console, including permissions, reporting and configuration views.
Design clear approval and review states, since the system requires human sign-off.
Design System Delivery
Build a complete component style guide covering typography, color, spacing and states.
Document component behavior and usage so it can be implemented directly in code.
Deliver a signed-off design system in month one so no downstream work waits on design.
Handover and Support
Overlap with the front-end developer for handover in weeks three and four.
Answer implementation questions and review builds against the approved designs.
Provide design revisions as build questions surface.
Technical Skills
Skill Sets Required / Preferred
Strong proficiency in Figma, including components, variants and design tokens.
Experience designing complex, data-heavy web applications and admin interfaces.
Ability to build and document a reusable design system.
Working understanding of responsive design and accessibility standards.
Familiarity with how designs translate into React component structures is preferred.
Soft Skills
Clear written and verbal communication with non-technical stakeholders.
Strong discovery and stakeholder interviewing skills.
Self-directed with excellent time management on a compressed timeline.
Comfortable presenting and defending design decisions.
Experience & Education
Four or more years of UI/UX design experience for web applications or SaaS products.
Portfolio showing complex internal tools, dashboards or admin consoles.
Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience designing for legal, healthcare or other regulated industries is a plus.
