Job Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain server-side applications and RESTful/GraphQL APIs using Node.js (Express / NestJS / Fastify)
Own features from technical design through deployment and post-launch support
Write asynchronous, event-driven code and handle concurrency, streams, and non-blocking I/O correctly
Design database schemas and write efficient queries across [PostgreSQL / MySQL / MongoDB]
Integrate third-party APIs, payment gateways, and internal microservices
Implement caching, background jobs, and message queues (Redis, BullMQ, RabbitMQ, Kafka)
Write unit and integration tests (Jest / Mocha) and maintain reasonable coverage on critical paths
Review pull requests with substantive feedback on correctness, security, and readability
Debug and resolve production issues; monitor application health, latency, and errors
Maintain CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployments
Apply security fundamentals — authentication (JWT/OAuth), input validation, dependency auditing, OWASP Top 10
Collaborate with frontend, product, and QA to scope work and flag technical risks early
Contribute to documentation, runbooks, and onboarding material
Required Skills
Strong proficiency in Node.js and JavaScript (ES6+); TypeScript experience strongly preferred
Hands-on experience with at least one Node framework — Express, NestJS, Fastify, or Koa
Deep understanding of the event loop, promises, async/await, and error handling in async code
Experience designing and building REST APIs (GraphQL a plus)
Solid database skills: schema design, indexing, query optimization; experience with both SQL and NoSQL
Familiarity with ORMs/ODMs such as Prisma, TypeORM, Sequelize, or Mongoose
Working knowledge of Redis for caching, sessions, or queues
Experience with Git, code review workflows, and CI/CD pipelines
Comfortable with Docker and deploying to a cloud platform [AWS / GCP / Azure]
Testing discipline with Jest, Mocha, or Supertest
Understanding of authentication, authorization, and common web security risks
Ability to debug production issues using logs, metrics, and profiling tools
Clear written and verbal communication
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience
[2–5]+ years of professional experience building production applications with Node.js
Demonstrated record of shipping and maintaining features used by real users
Experience working in an Agile or iterative development environment
