Senior Full Stack Engineer

Our client is continuing to grow its engineering team around a technology platform serving the financial services, payments, and digital product ecosystem. As the business scales, the engineering organization is investing in the architecture, infrastructure, and applications required to support increasingly complex, high-volume workloads
They are seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer with strong backend expertise who enjoys working across the entire product stack. The role is primarily focused on Python, AWS, API development, databases, integrations, and distributed systems, with opportunities to contribute to frontend development using React and TypeScript.
You’ll have substantial ownership over technical initiatives and work closely with engineering and product stakeholders to design, build, and evolve production systems. This position offers the opportunity to influence architectural decisions while remaining highly hands-on with implementation.
What You’ll Work On
Design and develop scalable backend services supporting financial, payment, and customer-facing products.
Build and maintain production applications and APIs primarily using Python, along with supporting AWS infrastructure and data services.
Take technical projects from initial requirements and system design through development, deployment, and continued improvement.
Develop reliable integrations across financial institutions, third-party providers, external APIs, and internal platforms.
Help shape backend architecture, service boundaries, data structures, and broader engineering strategy.
Collaborate with frontend and mobile engineers to deliver integrated end-to-end product functionality.
Troubleshoot and improve system reliability, latency, scalability, and overall production performance.
Strengthen engineering infrastructure through automated testing, monitoring, observability, logging, and developer tooling.
Participate in design reviews, code reviews, architecture discussions, production incidents, and technical planning.
Serve as a senior technical contributor across backend initiatives and help establish engineering standards and best practices.
Make thoughtful tradeoffs between immediate product needs and the long-term scalability and maintainability of the platform.
What You Bring
6+ years of professional software engineering experience
Strong hands-on experience building and supporting Python-based production applications; Django experience is highly valued.
Deep understanding of backend engineering, API design, service architecture, and data modeling.
Production experience with PostgreSQL and AWS.
Familiarity with React and TypeScript and the ability to contribute effectively to frontend development when required.
Experience designing and operating cloud-native, distributed, and highly available systems.
A track record of independently driving complex engineering projects from architecture through production.
Strong knowledge of system design, scalability, reliability, performance optimization, testing, and software architecture.
Comfortable operating with significant autonomy and making technical decisions in a rapidly evolving environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or another relevant technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
Compensation
Base Salary: $235,000 – $265,000
