Role Description The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a full-time remote role responsible for providing strategic financial leadership to Kenya Malaria Youth Corps. The CFO oversees financial planning and budgeting, ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, and manages cash flow to support programmatic and operational priorities. Day-to-day tasks include preparing and reviewing financial statements, monitoring expenditures against budgets, developing financial policies and controls, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and donor requirements. The CFO collaborates with senior leadership to align financial strategy with organizational goals, supports grant and contract management, and provides clear financial analysis to guide decision-making. This role also involves supervising finance staff or consultants, coordinating audits, and maintaining transparent relationships with funders and partners regarding financial performance.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Finance with proven experience in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations, including familiarity with donor-funded projects and grant management.
Expertise in Financial Planning and budgeting, including long-term forecasting, resource allocation, and scenario analysis to support strategic decisions.
Proficiency in preparing and interpreting Financial Statements, ensuring accuracy, compliance with applicable standards, and clear communication to stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability in Financial Reporting, including periodic management reports, donor reports, and board-level presentations.
Advanced Analytical Skills to assess financial performance, identify risks and opportunities, and recommend data-driven actions.
Knowledge of financial controls, compliance, and audit processes, with experience establishing and maintaining robust internal control systems.
Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in remote, cross-functional teams and multicultural environments.
Proficiency with accounting and financial management software, spreadsheets, and data visualization tools.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CFA) or advanced degree is an advantage.
