Design Director

Role Description The Design Director will oversee the visual direction and design quality of all creative outputs, ensuring alignment with the organization’s social awareness mission. This part-time, remote role includes leading design projects from concept to delivery, managing design workflows, and providing guidance to designers and collaborators. Day-to-day tasks involve developing visual strategies for campaigns, refining brand identity, reviewing and approving design materials, and coordinating with content, outreach, and program teams. The Design Director will also create and refine design systems, maintain consistency across digital and print assets, and ensure that all visual communications are clear, accessible, and impactful.
Qualifications
Strong skills in design management and creative direction, with experience leading multidisciplinary design projects.
Proficiency in branding, including visual identity development, brand guidelines, and application across multiple channels.
Experience in architecture and product design, with the ability to translate concepts into functional and visually coherent solutions.
Ability to produce and review construction drawings or technical design documentation with attention to detail and clarity.
Advanced skills in industry-standard design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, Sketch) and familiarity with digital and print formats.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote, mission-driven environment.
Demonstrated portfolio showcasing relevant design leadership and socially focused projects.
Bachelor’s degree in Design, Architecture, Visual Communication, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
