About The Role
We are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer 2 to join Verisk's dynamic technology team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the implementation, automation, and management of AWS cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices. Your primary focus will be on building and maintaining scalable, reliable, and secure cloud environments, enhancing CI/CD pipelines, and supporting application deployments. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including software engineering, security, and operations to ensure the stability, security, and performance of production systems. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to enterprise-scale cloud solutions, improve operational efficiency, and develop your expertise in cloud engineering and DevOps methodologies.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of educational background and hands-on experience, including a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Candidates should have at least three years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Infrastructure Engineering, with a minimum of two years supporting or managing AWS cloud environments. Familiarity with AWS services such as EC2, VPC, IAM, ECS, EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, Route 53, ELB, and Auto Scaling is essential. Experience in building, maintaining, or troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or AWS CodePipeline is required. Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code using CDK and/or CloudFormation, along with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, is highly desirable. Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell, along with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, are necessary. Effective communication and teamwork skills are also important for success in this role.
Responsibilities
Support the implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of AWS cloud infrastructure utilizing Infrastructure as Code tools such as CDK or CloudFormation, adhering to security, governance, and operational standards.
Develop, update, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation processes using GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, and related tools to ensure reliable and efficient software delivery.
Assist with containerized applications and cloud-native services employing Docker, Amazon ECS, Amazon EKS, and related technologies to facilitate scalable deployment architectures.
Contribute to infrastructure automation, monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational improvements using CloudWatch, Splunk, and other observability platforms to enhance system reliability and visibility.
Participate in production support activities, including incident response, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and deployment support, to maintain high availability and performance of applications.
Collaborate with software engineering, security, architecture, and infrastructure teams to implement DevOps and DevSecOps practices, support cloud migration initiatives, and optimize operational workflows.
Document processes, contribute to technical standards, share knowledge within the team, and identify opportunities for automation, reliability improvements, and cost optimization in the cloud environment.
