Cloud Engineer

Role Description This part-time remote Cloud Engineer role at Laboratorio Belatec focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable cloud environments to support laboratory and business applications. The Cloud Engineer will develop and automate deployment pipelines, monitor system performance, and optimize resource usage across cloud platforms. Daily responsibilities include configuring and managing infrastructure as code, troubleshooting cloud and network issues, and collaborating with software and data teams to ensure reliable integrations. The role also involves implementing backup and recovery strategies, managing access controls, and contributing to documentation and best practices for cloud operations.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Cloud Computing and Infrastructure, with experience deploying and maintaining services on one or more major cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
Practical experience with Linux administration and scripting to automate routine tasks and support production environments.
Knowledge of Databases (SQL and/or NoSQL), including configuration, performance tuning, and secure connectivity from cloud services.
Skills in Software Development or scripting (e.g., Python, Go, Java, or similar) for building tools, automation, and integration with cloud APIs.
Understanding of networking concepts (VPCs, subnets, security groups, VPNs) and cloud security best practices.
Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage time effectively in a part-time schedule, and collaborate clearly with distributed teams.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) is beneficial.
