Senior Software Engineer

As a senior backend engineer, you will lead the design and development of scalable backend systems that power our platform. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect, build, and optimise high-performance services using. NET and C#. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving complex technical challenges, driving architectural decisions, and mentoring other developers while delivering reliable, scalable systems.
Responsibilities:
Take ownership of designing, developing, and delivering complex backend systems and features with minimal supervision.
Translate business requirements into scalable Low-Level Designs (LLD) and contribute to architecture discussions across teams.
Lead the end-to-end development lifecycle from design and implementation to deployment, monitoring, and optimisation.
Build, maintain, and enhance high-quality backend services using. NET Core / ASP. NET Core and C#.
Design and implement RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems with scalability and reliability in mind.
Collaborate closely with product managers, front-end engineers, QA engineers, and DevOps teams to deliver cross-functional initiatives.
Mentor and guide junior engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical coaching.
Identify system bottlenecks, architectural gaps, and technical debt; drive refactoring and modernisation initiatives.
Ensure strong engineering practices through automated testing, documentation, CI/CD pipelines, and coding standards.
Improve system observability and reliability using logging, monitoring, and debugging tools.
Participate in on-call rotations and proactively troubleshoot production incidents while implementing preventive solutions.
Contribute to a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement across engineering teams.
Requirements:
4+ years of experience building and scaling backend systems using. NET, ASP. NET Core, and C#.
Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, and system design principles.
Experience designing and building RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed backend systems.
Hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including schema design, query optimisation, and performance tuning.
Familiarity with caching, asynchronous processing, message queues, and event-driven architectures.
Strong debugging and problem-solving skills with experience using observability and monitoring tools.
Experience building highly available and scalable applications in cloud-based environments.
Ability to work independently, drive technical decisions, and execute projects with ownership.
Strong communication and collaboration skills across distributed teams.
Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to engineering best practices.
Familiarity with fintech, payroll, HR systems, payment integrations, or financial workflows is a plus.
Exposure to Java-based ecosystems or polyglot environments is a plus.
