Company Description Safe Haven Animal Network is an emerging organization dedicated to improving the welfare, protection, and placement of animals in need. The network seeks to build a collaborative community of rescuers, foster caregivers, adopters, and advocates who share a commitment to humane treatment and responsible guardianship. Operating primarily through remote coordination, the organization focuses on outreach, education, and support for animal rescue partners. As a founding-stage initiative, Safe Haven Animal Network offers volunteers the opportunity to shape its mission, governance, and long-term impact on animal welfare.
Role Description The Volunteer Founding Board Secretary will support the establishment and effective operation of Safe Haven Animal Network’s governing board in a remote capacity. This volunteer role is responsible for preparing agendas and materials for board meetings, recording and maintaining accurate minutes, and organizing board documentation and records. The Secretary will help develop and refine governance policies, maintain compliance-related records, and coordinate board communications and meeting schedules. The role also involves collaborating with other founding board members to support strategic planning, stakeholder outreach, and transparent reporting to partners and the public.
Qualifications
Experience or familiarity with Board of Directors operations and Corporate Governance practices.
Ability to contribute to Strategic Planning, including setting goals, tracking progress, and supporting organizational development.
Skills in Public Relations and Government relations, such as communicating with external stakeholders, community partners, and regulatory bodies.
Strong organizational, documentation, and note-taking skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
Comfort working in a fully remote, collaborative environment using digital tools for communication and recordkeeping.
Demonstrated commitment to animal welfare, nonprofit work, or community service is highly beneficial.
Prior experience serving on a board or in a secretary/administrative role within a nonprofit or mission-driven organization is a plus.
