Job Title: Community & Social Media Manager
Project: Clockwork – A Competitive Steampunk Multiplayer Word Game
Type: Independent Contractor (Deferred / Revenue-Linked Compensation)
Experience Level: Junior to Mid-Level (1–4 years of social media, community management, or related marketing experience preferred)
Location: Remote, United States only
Description
Join Dolphin Entertainment, LLC as our Community & Social Media Manager and help grow the player base for Clockwork, our live steampunk competitive multiplayer word game available now on iOS and Android. Clockwork is about to receive a major social update that adds a friend system and the ability to taunt other players during matches. We now have a small advertising budget and are preparing to run paid campaigns to accelerate user acquisition while we continue expanding the game.
Our current priority is establishing reliable revenue by growing Clockwork’s active user base. We are no longer seeking a traditional full publisher; instead we are pursuing seed funding and other means to support marketing and accelerate revenue. We have also been in contact with independent board game publishers about creating digital adaptations of their titles as future projects that would benefit from mutual publicity and existing audiences. More of our own original IPs will also be developed in the future that span across multiple genres.
This is a hands-on role. You will own our social media presence, build and nurture our Discord and other community spaces, create engaging content, and help turn players into long-term fans. Experience or willingness to assist with press releases, media outreach, influencer relations, and creator partnership programs is a strong plus.

Compensation & Roadmap
Compensation follows the same structure used for our other early team members. Payment will be deferred until the studio can support wages, which will begin at $2,000 per month, as soon as feasibly possible and be renegotiated upward as revenue milestones are reached. Our target for this position is to meet or surpass industry-average compensation for a Community / Social Media Manager in games (approximately $50,000–$70,000 per year equivalent). Once the target pay range has been reached and full-time wages and benefits can be supported, your contract will be considered fulfilled and you will be provided a $10,000 payment along with an offer of full-time employment.
Any bonuses and benefits for helping to establish the studio would be a part of the offer of full-time employment and, by law, cannot be built into an independent contractor agreement.
Early team members receive first consideration for leadership roles as the studio grows. This is a remote U.S.-only position. When the studio becomes established, the goal is to open a physical studio location in Central Texas. Relocation assistance will be provided when the physical studio is opened and relocation will be mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
• Own and grow our presence across social platforms (X/Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and others as relevant).
• Build, moderate, and cultivate our Discord community and other player spaces; foster a welcoming, engaged culture.
• Create and schedule engaging content (posts, short-form video, graphics, developer updates, memes that fit Clockwork’s steampunk word-game voice and that of future projects).
• Develop content calendars aligned with the upcoming social update, ongoing feature releases, seasonal events, and paid ad campaigns.
• Support user acquisition efforts by coordinating organic social with our small paid advertising budget.
• Promote and support our creator partnership programs (Xsolla webstore revenue-share opportunities and the in-game creator avatar/likeness program with permanent 30% share), including outreach and content that highlights participating creators.
• Monitor community sentiment, collect player feedback, and relay actionable insights to the development team.
• Plan and run community activations: contests, giveaways, AMAs, livestream support, and events that leverage the new friend system and taunt features.
• Track key metrics (engagement, growth, sentiment, download/install impact where measurable) and report progress.
• Assist with press releases, media outreach, influencer relations, and press kit maintenance (strong plus).
Requirements
• Passion for video games including genuine interest in word games, mobile multiplayer, or steampunk aesthetics.
• Proven experience managing social media accounts and/or online communities (gaming experience preferred).
• Strong written communication skills and ability to maintain a consistent, engaging brand voice.
• Comfortable creating or coordinating short-form video and visual content.
• Familiarity with Discord moderation and community tools.
• Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently in a remote startup environment.
• Must reside in the United States.
Strong Pluses
• Experience drafting or reviewing press releases and conducting media outreach.
• Influencer / content creator relations experience (especially useful for promoting our creator partnership programs).
• Familiarity with mobile free-to-play or live-service community practices.
• Basic analytics tools experience (native platform insights, simple dashboards).
• Interest in board-game-to-digital adaptations or Texas indie game scene (future projects).
• Familiarity with a wide range of game genres
Who am I?
I’m Jason Patterson, U.S.-based founder of Dolphin Entertainment, LLC and Texas native. I previously ran an indie studio, launching a title before life events shifted my path. Since then I’ve had a book accepted for publication, engaged in various ventures, and worked with a startup creating human- authored, AI-powered interactive narratives. My passion for games brought me back to revive the studio with Clockwork. I foster a crunch-free, collaborative culture and am hands-on with design, UI, and direction. I have a human-first focus and believe in building the creativity and capability of human workers.
Why Join Us?
Clockwork is already live and will soon receive additional social features. You will have real ownership over how the game’s community and public presence grow at a pivotal moment—right as we begin paid user acquisition, expand social systems, and further promote creator partnership programs. Early team members help shape the studio’s voice and receive priority consideration for future leadership roles as we establish revenue and pursue additional projects (including original titles and digital adaptations of products developed by independent board game publishers).
Work remotely, help turn a released indie mobile title into a sustainable business, and grow with us.
