Role Description The Senior Database Administrator is a part-time, remote role responsible for managing and optimizing the databases that support Off-Def Security’s content and community platforms. Day-to-day tasks include overseeing database performance, monitoring availability, and implementing backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and security. The role involves designing and updating database schemas, supporting data modeling efforts, and collaborating with engineering and analytics teams to improve data structures for reporting and application needs. The Senior Database Administrator will also troubleshoot database issues, apply updates and patches, and contribute to database-related security and compliance practices. This role requires clear communication with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable and reliable database solutions.
Qualifications
Strong skills in Database Administration and hands-on experience managing production Databases.
Proficiency in Database Design and Data Modeling to create efficient, scalable data structures.
Well-developed Analytical Skills for performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimizing queries.
Experience with relational database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server) and familiarity with NoSQL databases is beneficial.
Knowledge of database security, backup and recovery strategies, and high-availability configurations.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
Relevant certifications (e.g., SQL, DB administration, cloud database services) and experience in cybersecurity or technology-focused organizations are a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
