Role Description The Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer (CAIO) is a full-time remote role responsible for defining and leading HealthKois’ AI vision and strategy across its investment portfolio and internal operations. This role involves identifying AI-driven opportunities in prospective and existing portfolio companies, guiding founders on AI architecture, data strategy, and product roadmaps, and ensuring responsible, ethical AI deployment in healthcare contexts. The CAIO will collaborate closely with investment, clinical, and operations teams to evaluate AI capabilities during due diligence, design impact-focused AI use cases, and support post-investment value creation. Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing AI research and development initiatives, setting technical standards and best practices, building partnerships with technology providers and academic institutions, and representing HealthKois in industry forums. The CAIO will also establish governance frameworks for data privacy, regulatory compliance, and model validation, while mentoring cross-functional teams and contributing to thought leadership in AI for healthcare and climate health.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Computer Science, with the ability to architect scalable, secure, and reliable AI systems in healthcare and related domains.
Advanced expertise in Data Science and Pattern Recognition, including statistical modeling, machine learning, and application of patterns to clinical and operational data.
Demonstrated experience in Natural Language Processing (NLP), such as building models for clinical documentation, decision support, and patient engagement.
Hands-on experience in Computer Vision, including medical imaging analysis, diagnostics support tools, and visual data processing.
Proven leadership experience in AI strategy, preferably in healthtech, biopharma, medtech, or impact-focused sectors, with a track record of product deployment at scale.
Ability to work effectively with founders, clinicians, and investors, translating complex technical concepts into clear business and impact narratives.
