Company Description Portfolio Management Group (PMG) is the student‑managed investment fund at Georgia State University, overseeing more than $1.6M in assets under management. PMG focuses on developing future investment professionals through hands‑on experience in equity research, security analysis, and portfolio construction using real capital. Role Description The Vice President of Engineering is a full-time remote role responsible for leading the design, development, and maintenance of technology solutions that support PMG’s investment research, portfolio management, and operational workflows. This role oversees engineering teams, sets technical direction, and ensures alignment between product roadmap and organizational goals. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing software development projects, prioritizing and planning engineering initiatives, and partnering with product and investment stakeholders to define requirements and deliver scalable tools. The Vice President of Engineering will establish best practices in coding, testing, deployment, and documentation, and will mentor team members to foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. The role also involves monitoring system performance, ensuring data integrity and security, and evaluating new technologies that can enhance PMG’s analytical and reporting capabilities.
Qualifications
Demonstrated Engineering Management experience, including setting technical strategy, building processes, and developing high-performing engineering teams.
Strong Team Leadership skills with a track record of mentoring, performance management, and fostering inclusive, collaborative engineering cultures.
Hands-on Software Development expertise in modern languages, frameworks, and tools relevant to data, analytics, or financial applications.
Proficiency in Project Management, including planning, prioritization, risk management, and delivering complex initiatives on time and within scope.
Experience in Product Development, working closely with stakeholders to translate requirements into user-centric, scalable technical solutions.
Background in or familiarity with finance, investment management, or data-intensive domains is highly beneficial.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote environment and across multidisciplinary teams.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or equivalent practical experience is a plus.
