Role Description The Assistant Manager role at Wheels India Limited is a full-time, on-site position based in Chennai. This role involves overseeing daily operations within the assigned business unit or function, supporting production planning, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and delivery targets. The Assistant Manager will monitor performance metrics, analyze data to identify improvement opportunities, and assist in implementing process enhancements in line with company standards and OEM requirements. Responsibilities include preparing reports and documentation, supporting audits and compliance activities, and maintaining effective communication with internal stakeholders and external partners. The role also requires mentoring team members, resolving operational issues, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that align with the company’s strategic objectives.
Qualifications
Strong operational and process-management skills, including experience in production planning, coordination, and performance monitoring in a manufacturing or auto components environment.
Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify root causes, and recommend practical process improvements.
Knowledge of quality management practices, safety standards, and basic familiarity with lean manufacturing, TPM, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams, OEM partners, and internal stakeholders.
Ability to lead and support teams, organize work efficiently, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, on-site environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Management, or a related field; a postgraduate qualification in management is an advantage.
Prior experience in the automotive or auto components industry, particularly in wheel manufacturing or related operations, is highly beneficial.
Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with ERP or production management systems.
