Mechanical Trainee – Pre-Bid Estimation

Job Overview
We are looking for a Mechanical Trainee to support our pre-bid estimation and tendering activities. The ideal candidate should have a basic understanding of mechanical engineering concepts, good drawing-reading skills, and an interest in quantity take-off, estimation, and project costing.
The candidate will work closely with the estimation and project teams to review drawings, prepare quantity take-offs, and support the preparation of accurate and timely pre-bid estimates.
Key Responsibilities
Review and understand mechanical drawings, layouts, specifications, and tender documents.
Perform quantity take-offs from drawings and project documents.
Assist in preparing pre-bid estimates, BOQs, and material quantity calculations.
Identify mechanical equipment, materials, components, and scope of work from drawings.
Cross-check quantities against drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
Assist senior estimators in preparing cost estimates and bid documentation.
Identify scope gaps, discrepancies, and missing information in tender documents.
Coordinate with senior engineers/estimators to clarify technical requirements.
Maintain estimation sheets, quantity databases, and project documentation.
Support the team in meeting tender submission deadlines.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
Freshers or candidates with 0–1 year of relevant experience may apply.
Basic understanding of mechanical engineering and construction concepts.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
Basic knowledge of quantity take-off and BOQ preparation.
Good working knowledge of MS Excel.
Knowledge of AutoCAD will be an advantage.
Good analytical and numerical skills.
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Skills
Exposure to pre-bid estimation/tendering is an advantage.
Basic understanding of HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, piping, or other MEP systems will be beneficial.
Familiarity with construction drawings and specifications.
Ability to work under deadlines and handle multiple tender requirements.
